You can repeat what you "know" all day, but it doesn't necessarily make it so.

Even if TV and other acquisitions have no effect this season or even a deleterious effect, I am somewhat buoyed by the fact that the transactions were made. I think we needed some positive indications from MB after some of his decisions, and he delivered. I think that I am now getting the sense that Habs are building something solid. Chance in the form of injuries or prospects not developing could erode some building blocks, but that is true of any team at any time.

With the thinking that Vanek's preference is to return to Minnesota, I find myself a little disappointed that Montrealers and Quebecers don't seem as attached to their former home territory. I am thinking specifically of Lecavalier as well as the younger Briere, but no one seems to be exactly chomping at the bit to return.

Thanks for the conversation. One final comment. In that series, I thought PK was the only one who showed any passion and desire to win. Although that might be overstating a bit, there sure seemed to be a difference between his attitude and that of the rest of the team.

I didn't see last night's game, but I thought on Saturday that he was regaining some form and was probably our best in that game at least. The problem is that in the games when he isn't our best, there is no one else. Max gets hot on occasion, but his overall play is not at PK's level. So, who else is there, aside from the goalie? I kind of see this organization as working to discourage PK more than encourage him although I would hope not intentionally. Do you think that is a reasonable observation?

PK has had 2 goals lately and helped in at least one other, so it's not that bleak. Maybe there will always be "cough-ups" in his game. He is [generally] very good at recovering and not letting them lead to goals. So, maybe the concern, while real, should not be too great? OTOH, all of PK, Eller, and Emelin seem to be on the decline. Then there's Bourque, Chucky's usage, and odd line combos, which make one question the coaching. The style of play has to be questioned too. I don't love or hate MT, and I am not hockey smart enough to come to a conclusion, but I have a feeling that he is not the best fit for this group. To his credit, however, the results in standings, have been unexpectedly good, and maybe that's all that matters.

Go figure. I'm a guy who has problems sleeping, but I fell asleep in my recliner while waiting for the game to begin. I am not too unhappy to get a good nights sleep.

OMG are we really discussing whether it takes 15 or 25 minutes to drive to the Bell Centre? (Sorry. Should have posted this several comment above.)

The realist/pessimist part of me is thinking it could be zero.

I could spend the rest of my life trying to understand that first sentence. :) Cheers.
