Re: Trevor Timmons, am I the only one that thinks that the problem isn't with scouting but with how they develop their players? For awhile, list after list put the Habs' prospects toward the top of the league as a group...there will always be some misses, but I have a hard time believing that everyone could have been wrong about the guys they were drafting.

Twitterverse is saying Cammalleri trade is a possibility...when was the last time a player was pulled from a game because he was traded? From Bob McKenzie: TSNBobMcKenzie Bob McKenzie Reports are that MTL has pulled Cammalleri out of the game, put him in cab to team hotel to await further instructions. Trade is possibility Could this season get any stranger?

Same reason that the Leafs got a first-rounder for Kaberle...teams get anxious around the deadline.

I could definitely live with a first-rounder...only problem is that it's a gamble- Cammy still has value for a team looking for an offensive boost, but if he keeps building his reputation as a locker room cancer it might hurt his value. If PG's smart he'd announce he's interested in trading Cammy now but only for the right price and then let the bidding war escalate between now and the deadline. If....

So if we trade Cammalleri what can we realistically hope for in return? Another top-tier sniper to replace the guy he was supposed to be? Any decent roster player? A first rounder? If PG decides to trade he'll be doing so from a position of weakness, and those trades never work out well...even "addition by subtraction" wouldn't necessarily help this team since Cammalleri's contract isn't the worst and I doubt he's the only source of the problem.

Maybe Adam Walsh burned some bridges with Habs management.

    Commence poop flinging in 3...2...1...

And pour out some chocolate milk for Halak.  I'll miss the guy.

A fellow UMaine fan?  I remember the 42-1-2 year well, too bad Jim Montgomery never worked out in the NHL

I think we might have to resign ourselves to Plek's departure...he's probably the best UFA of a thin pool and someone more desperate/clumsier than Gauthier will send a big contract his way.  I'd love to keep him if he was affordable (I don't buy the idea that he disappeared in the playoffs) but I doubt fate will be so kind.

As for the replacement, we can probably address that in the Price/Halak trade.  I know what you mean, but again, fate isn't kind to us.  You can always look at it the other way and think that we can eat the loss of Pleks because we have a tradeable asset that can address his departure.  I don't see anyone in the UFA pool that could fill that gap, so a trade is probably the best way to go.

Part of that is based on the fact that the Flyers need to clear some cap space.  The other is that I'm guessing that Paul Holmgren probably thinks that with a better goalie than Leighton between the pipes the Flyers are Cup winners and so he's in the market for a keeper.

Granted, the market is flooded with goalies this summer, including some who will be more affordable than Price.  The difference is that Price is the only one of the lot who's probably more than just a stop-gap or band-aid and (I'm hoping) that GMs will see him as a long-term solution.  I'm hoping that valuation of him will offset/overweigh the question marks about his inexperience.

Or it won't.  None of us are GMs after all.  I've always wanted to hear what the negotiations in a trade like this sound like.
