@Crosseye Did you read HabInBurlington post before you laid on the sarcasm?

    2. If Gomez is on the ice then other centes arent - this doesn't need further explaining. If you don't understand then so be it. 6. Check the stats. The wingers I mentioned have worse numbers on Gomez line. As for the cap debate- who said anything about recalling him once sending him to the minors? We leave him there until his contract expires. If we do that not another cent of his contract will come off our cap.

@ HabInBurlington The only way for a NHL team to eat a contract is to put the player on waiver and send him to the minors ala Souray @Edmonton. This way the club is still responsibility to pay his salary but his contract has no cap implications on the team.

    2. Not an opinion - when Gomez is on ice at centre Eller and Desharnais are not. 6. Not an opinion - check the stats its a fact. These players are less productive when playinng with Gomez. 7. I guess this is an opinion but they're also a basic premises of sports phychology. 10. Yes its my opinion but its also the opinion of the majority of fans and those in the media. 3 & 9. These are facts. I obviously understand the cap workings much better than you. Maybe you should learn it before you shoot down peoples points. Maybe sir it is you that is bogus?

I am of course not implying that fans should have a direct say in the day to day running of the team. Trades, line combinations, coaching changes etc. The fact that the fans get to choose the 3 stars shows how uneducated the average armchair fan is. What I am sugggesting is that the fans, the ones who finance the whole franchise, should have a Union with a chairman and board comprising of educated people and hockey fans who meet with club officials every 3months/year to express any concerns they have with the direction in which the club is being run. If the team refuses to listen to these concerns then there are ways the fans can make them listen if the union is large enough and powerful enough. The fans no1 concern is winning but the clubs number 1 concern is making money. Until the fans speak up the club will just carry on making money.

In Europe all football clubs have an official fan group who have a voice and a say in the way the team in being run. Montreal Canadiens fans have no voice because the team dont want them to have a say in the way the team is run. Do you not see anything wrong with this?

From what I see the Montreal Canadiens can get away with taking theyre fans for granted. Theres so many of us that they dont mind if they piss off a few because theres many more out there desperate to spend their money backing a losing team. The Gomez trade set the team back years in that we are giving a huge % of our salary cap space to an underachiever who is long past his best. We also gave up a solid prospect that will play on the top 4 of the NYR defence for years to go. I'm from Europe and if a soccer club ran their team this way there would be thousands of fans on their doorstep baying for GM blood. But here in Montreal we're so apatheitic that we accept mediocrity and do nothing more than moan and bitch to voice our concerns. A petition with a few hundred names will do nothing to get anyones attention but when half a million people follow the canadiens on facebook why wont a few thousand sign up to say they want change? http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/293500977335631/ Join the group if you agree: 10 REASONS WHY SCOTT GOMEZ SHOULD BE SENT TO THE HAMILTON BULLDOGS 1. HE HAS NOT SCORED A REGULAR SEASON OR PLAYOFF GOAL SINCE FEBRUARY 5th (42 GAMES). 2. HE TAKES AWAY ICE TIME FROM THE DEVELOPMENT OF LARS ELLER AND DAVID DESHARNAIS. 3. SENDING HIM TO THE MINORS WOULD FREE UP APPROZ $6.5M IN CAP SPACE THAT THE TEAM CAN USE TO BRING IN EXPERIENCED PLAYERS TO HELP TO TEAM IN A PLAYOFF RUN. 4. THE CANADIENS ARE 3-1-1 WITHOUT HIM AND 1-4-1 WITH HIM IN THE LINEUP THIS SEASON. 5. HE STATISTICS ARE GETTING WORSE EVERY SEASON AND HE HAS HAD THE TWO WORST YEARS OF HIS CAREER AS A MEMBER OF THE MONTREAL CANADIENS. 6. THE PRODUCTION OF THE WINGERS ON THE TEAM DECREASES WHEN THEY PLAY ON HIS LINE (GINOTA, KOSTITSYN, CAMMALLERI, PACIORETTY). 7. UNDERPERFORMING HIGH PAID PLAYERS BECOME A DISTRACTION TO OTHERS IN THE DRESSING ROOM. 8. LAST SEASON HE WAS THE HIGHEST PAID PLAYER ON THE ROSTER BUT ON CONTRIBUTED WITH 7 GOALS 31 ASSISTS AND WAS MINUS 15 OVER 80 GAMES. 9. SEDING HIM TO THE MINORS WOULD ONLY COST THE TEAM $17M BUT WOULD FREE UP OVER $21M IN CAP SPACE FOR THE TEAM. 10. HAVE YOU SEEN HIM PLAY LATELY?

    Hey

My girlfriend and I are driving from Montreal to the game tomorrow. Can anyone here recommend a good forum to see if anyone is looking for a ride down?

Or alternately is anyone here looking thinking of going to the game tomorrow?
