  I did ask to be corrected and thanks for that. I see your point. I admit, I'm not as familiar with the inner workings and details it takes to manage a club's assets as you and others on this board. I do think, however, past management(s) has dialed up more free agent signings and trade stinkers on a consistent basis that it can't be ignored any longer. I just hope there are better eyes and ears and yes, connections around the league with this new bunch at the steering wheel. Maybe they WILL be better at trading our crap for something less crappy we can work with... unlike the past.

  Diaz? Palushaj? Engqvist? Correct me if I'm wrong here but, has any of the new management seen any of the Habs games last season? And please don't try to sell me Diaz's surgical point shot of the PP. It doesn't justify the fact he's still a mosquito in his own end. This will be Palush's third year! He's a career minor at best and this Engqvist dude just plain sucks. Don't waste your money Geoff.

  Great post! I remember his first couple of shifts with the team. It was apparent even then that he had something more to offer. His team dedication and loyalty is clear and undeniable. To me it became a situation where circumstances (and JM) led to a sort of funneling of most of his duties, almost exclusively to grit and checking. He didn't look out of place on the occasional PK. The Devils are among the few teams out there that can run with a kid like this and groom him into an invaluable piece a puzzle. For the record, I feel the same way about Staubitz. My hope is that, with the new faces behind the bench and up, this team will have more dimension and get with a winning formula whatever it takes.

  I heard "Lalongo" to Tampa, Mike. Anyway... Cherry likes to play fast and loose with this stuff because it makes him feel like an insider ... and if / when the prophecy is fulfilled - he replays it on the Corner then drools on his suit.
