  The latest on Therrien is that MB recognises what an idiotic move it was to hire him, feels terrible about letting Roy slip away as next year's coach, and so fires Therrien and hires Vigneault for next season. That's the latest in my mind, anyway.

  Good point, but they did win under the tank-gain of Lemieux...which also set the stage & surrounding cast for Crosby.

  I nudge my evaluation of the trade slightly higher than yours because the potential for Eller is still huge. I don't know about you but he seems capable of becoming truly great.

  The Pens did get great by tanking: back in the Lemiuex playing days. From then on all Shero had to do was not screw it up with stupid trades--he made good decisions but from a position of strength created by the earlier tanking. Gainey--who I love--had to make his trades from a position of weakness. And Gauthier has the the Eller trade on the plus side of the ledger: a trade which, in my view, is turning out to be one of the best NHL trades ever.
