- Comment on P.K. Subban in the media spotlight again at Habs practice (2014-01-10 20:21:27)
Gee: ZDNet says that Obama's website for State healthcare has had denial of service attacks. Shocker. If the Obama regime made that high profile website without expecting such attacks, they were in fantasyland. And they quote some nerd who "... pointed toward political motivations behind this attack"--which is just what I said: tinfoil hat conspiracy wingnuttery.

Are they originating from a grassy knoll in Dallas? Or perhaps these conservatives are Aliens on an orbiting mothership? Or, again, maybe these Denial of Service attacks are the reason that the conservatives did an inside job of destroying the Twin Towers on 9-11? The tinfoil-hat whacko leftist conspiracy-mongering possibilities are endless!

Well, I have lectured (under protest, and on secondment) at journalism school, and I agree that D Mex is wrong about the first rule...but the actual first rule is more damning. And the Guild is broken in any case, Mr. Boone, as technology has made every man his own Chesterton...or Dan Rather as the case may be. And, using again as I have had occasion to before a form of the ad populam popular among present-day journalism school graduates, it is most impolitic to tout journalism school as ethos when those schools count Sarah Palin amongst their graduates.

Dear Dipsy: You are 100% correct, as you have been saying all along and I have just had proven to me. RDS has a awesome clip of Phillipe Cantin utterly incredulous at Therrien's stupidity over Subban--I mean, it is an epic sport journalist clip of a kind man driven to stupefaction by Therrien's smallness. And more francophone RDSers (but I repeat myself) on other clips outdo themselves and trip over each other expressing Therrien's coaching nullity. Meanwhile, here in Anglo journalism we have the spectacle of Pat Hickey bootlicking Therrien and belittling fans (you and I that is) in one abjectly peurile article. So, I hereby repent of and recant every comment that I have previously made suggesting that a francophone old boys club was keeping Therrien afloat. They are, as the idiom goes, men of honour.

Yeah, I see that now. Sorry for the misreading. We agree on MT's idiocy, disagree on the racial component. That's life!

Woah--praise from on high!

Flamboyance , flair (note sp), and cockiness are racial code words, dude. And, PS, that flamboyance , flair, and cockiness got Therrien two goals and a win against Dallas the other night. Therrien is a total moron: don't join him.

"I agree that PK had to be called out for what he did. It was an immature and selfish reaction." Total crap. (No offense intended--just my emotional reaction.) It was an ordinary insignificant hockey play that happens in every game. I would have commended Subban for showing emotion and aggression after a total mugging--a mugging, WAY worse than the petty punch--that the zebras ignored, as they always do when it's against Subban. Short dismissal of the wrongheaded judgement: if the Rocket were alive today and playing on the Habs and was black, Therrien would have to ship him to Siberia, not just bench him for half a period. And the irony of that is that Richard was abused for the same reason that Subban is absused: because in both cases the officials were-are part of an ethnic majority that shared-share the default unsympathy toward the particular ethnic minority. And thus an even greater irony in that Therrien, who shares the Rocket's minority ethnicity (a minority in North America), has the same (at the very least) 'unsympathy' toward Subban as the ethnic majority do. This will end badly.

Yeah? Well I remember December 2, 1995, pal. We're doomed. Again.
