Decent result for spurs all things considered... if it was a knockout match they'd have 3 precious away goals. It's tough to win when you're down a man in the first half, your two best centre-backs are injured, and when you have a player who's in red hot form (van der Vaart) out through suspension. Saying that, Inter is definitely a superior team in most respects and I guess the odds played out.

What do you mean by saying that the young germans were "overlooked"? Fifa rankings are determined by points accumulated in international competition over the last 4(?) years. They are not based on popular opinion so i don't see how anyone could be overlooked.
