Saw your earlier post, and am watching with interest to see if anyone responds. I'm also a Shaw subscriber...my only choice. Viewing the guide I notice the caveat that "blackouts may be in effect". No idea who or why. So far I've been able to watch all the games on Sportsnet, Sportsnet 360 or City. That's all I can tell you. And yes, Shaw has no idea what's going on regarding the supposed lifting of the RDS blackout west of Belleville. All very frustrating. I think the only safe bet is to move to Montreal. The rule is perfect: in all matters of opinion our adversaries are insane. Mark Twain

Shoutout to Dunboyne Mike. Read your article in the Irish Times (Wed.) today. Enjoyed that you began with a sports metaphor..."You can't fear being upstaged by the players you select.", though not surprised knowing your devotion to the great sport of hockey. Though I don't know enough about classical music to truly appreciate your review of the piano festival, I found your style of writing engaging and entertaining. More proof , all in all that Habs fans really are a better class of people! Keep up the good work. I don't know if you can post a link to the article here, but I suspect there might be others interested in reading it. The rule is perfect: in all matters of opinion our adversaries are insane. Sorry db, the wife and I are headed up the left coast. Will be in Dingle tomorrow. Won't be back in Dublin till Oct. 7/8. Fly out on the ninth. Could meet for a Bulmers and a cottage pie then? Btw, got a shot of myself in a Habs tee shirt at the monastery at Skellig Michael today. Quite a climb. Quite an adventure. Captain let me take the wheel of the boat on the way back! Here's a little something off the board, but sports related. I'm in Ireland right now, in Killarney, County Kerry. The Kerry side won the Irish football title Sunday, defeating Donegal 2-9 to 12. (The 2 refers to three pointers scored by kicking the soccer-style ball into the soccer style net. The 9 and 12 are singles scored by kicking the ball through the uprights which rise above the goal posts, higher than American football uprights. Anyway, Killarney being one of the biggest towns in Kerry (perhaps the largest), the team brought the cup through in a weird sort of parade/tour at about 10 pm yesterday. The team rolled through in a double decker open-topped bus, while people thronged the streets, cheering them on. Though the Garda allowed people to drink on the streets for this special occasion, (the constable said, "Well of course we wouldn't be botherin' ya tonight, but I trust you know yer limits."), things were very civilized. The players are more than equivalent to our hockey heroes in terms of the adulation heaped upon them, but they are all amateurs with other jobs. The grassroots feel of the whole thing made me feel sad to consider what has become of our game. I remember as a child in the late 50's, early sixties my grandad saying, "The almighty dollar is going to ruin this game!" In many ways how right he was.
