Was just watching a condensed version of the Montreal game in Winnipeg for the Jets' home-opener and one of the play-by-play guys on CBC said, "I'd take Cammalleri over three Pacioretty's any day." Ha. Wrong.

His save percentage in the playoffs two years ago against the eventual Cup champs was what, .935 or something like that? Thomas got saved by a post in game 7, Price didn't, that was the difference.

That's a pretty simplistic view of the situation. I'm glad you're not running the team.
- Comment on Liveblog: Canadiens sign Colby Armstrong, Francis Bouillon, Brandon Prust (2012-07-01 18:04:12)
Well if the D stays healthy, you will only have to see two of those four, and it'll be Kaberle and Bouillon, most likely.

Yeah, definitely. Armstrong is not all that far removed from putting up 35-45 points. And he's only 29. He has A LOT to prove this season, so the Habs might be able to get some good hockey out of him. If not, then it's only a 1-year deal with a small cap hit, no big deal.

What a great day yesterday. The Habs drafted as well as they ever have in my lifetime (20 years). Went to Boston last night to see the Red Sox and when I was standing up in the back of the grandstand before the game Ryan White and new-Lightning Benoit Pouliot walked by. I caught up to Ryan White and just said hi, shook his hand, he commented on my Canadiens hat. And then later in the game, I went down to where they were sitting between innings and talked to Pouliot. Wished him luck in Tampa Bay and told him how amazing his goal against Florida was last season. Both of them were really friendly and the first NHL players I've ever met out in the world, and to meet them at Fenway Park was pretty crazy.

Gomez is still an option for some teams trying to reach the cap floor because his cap hit is more than his actual salary for the next two seasons. http://www.capgeek.com/players/display.php?id=624 So a team that needs to reach the floor but doesn't want to spend the money might have some interest in Gomez. It's still a long shot, but he does have the type of contract the cap floor teams might be interested in during the next two seasons. Edit: Looks like this was already discussed below this. Sorry about that.
- Comment on Gauthier is gone (2012-03-29 10:39:58)
While I think that it is a necessary move, whether it's good or not will ultimately come down to who replaces Gauthier. I assume that Molson has someone on their way in, or else he'd not have fired Gauthier. This team needs to improve, so this better not be a sideways move.
- Comment on Some takes on Canadiens 3-2 shootout win (2012-03-15 10:09:42)
He's having a down year, sure, but I think a lot of that can be accounted for by things out of his direct control, like who his line mates are. If you have a healthy team, namely have Gionta with Pleks, his numbers improve drastically, especially in the +/- department. Plekanec has had too much success in his career as a two-way centre to give up on him after one down year, which is essentially what trading him now would amount to. His trade value is probably at an all-time low, so to deal him now would be a bit premature, I think. I mean, sure, if he has a similar year next year his value will be even lower, but there's no real reason to think that this season is the rule rather than the exception.
- Comment on Liveblog: Another lead blown, but a Shootout W (2012-03-14 14:37:11)
Yup. I had someone lined up for it, but something came up, so I'm really stuck between a rock and a hard place here.
