  Realistically I think we have Markov until next years trade deadline. I can't see MB re-upping hom at his salary under the new cap since he will be paying big $$ for Subban and he has stated the future is with youth. Next season will be Markovs last in Montreal.

  I think moving Markov in trade and Kaberle in trade would be great moves. We all know Kaberle is not going to play in Montreal ever again. Markov was great in the early part of the season, but visibly tired and relatively ineffective at the end of the shortened season. I think trade him now and move on with youth and a bigger free agent D with a mean streak.

  Price in another city where he is anonymous would be a star and worth every penny of his contract. Maybe MB could get a high 1st rounder for him in this draft...maybe a top 5-10 pick... Now that would be interesting. But for the record I love the guy and believe he is the goalie we need so shouldn't trade him...BUT a top 5-10 pick this year might be good too.

  I love that "First" thing...makes we wonder if these folks have a life or simply sit on HIO waiting for a new post so they can have a sense of accomplishment to be the "First" to post...never anything important to say though. It's sort of like trying the foirst guy out in new snow...oh look I stepped in fresh snow before anyone else...but it is indicative to how low this site has devolved over time.

  With the CAP drop next year MB has tied his hands by re-upping DD at 3.5M for the next 4 years. Markov one more year at 5.75M Kaberle one more at 4.25M Price for 5 more years at 6.5M THis team needs to shed some salary cap this summer so they can go out and get some skilled sized players for the back end and the wings. It's going to be tough especially when there is nothing in the pipeline with combination of size and skill at forward.

  My hope is that Price can re-gain the elite level of play that he has shown in the past...otherwise the Habs are really screwed. If Price can not raise his game to begin to steal games for us and lead this team in the play-offs we are screwed. Price's contract of 5 more years at CAP hit of $6.5M per season is toxic if he continues to play porrly and inconsistently like he has the last part of the regular season and thus far in the play-offs. That contract of his could be a real albotros in similar terms as the Gomez contract.
