Just finished watching the Canucks/Kings game, which was a dandy. The game really highlighted how far away we are from being a serious contender. This would never happen but if we do make the playoffs MB should consider being a seller at the trade deadline, rather than stocking up for a playoff run. I don't want the Habs to be stuck in no-man's land, on the post season bubble year after year, not getting good draft picks and never having a real chance at the cup....which is where we are now.

Well, look on the bright side - while we're 30th in the league in height, we're 22nd in weight, and this is up from 30th and 28th last year! Definitely headed in the right direction and as another poster said we should be there by 2105 :) http://mirtle.blogspot.ca/2013/10/2013-14-nhl-teams-by-height-weight-and.html http://mirtle.blogspot.ca/2013/01/2013-nhl-teams-by-weight-height-and-age.html

There was also Mats Naslund who led the team in scoring in both the regular season and playoffs I think, and I seem to remember Bobby Smith doing well too Nilan contributed in the dressing room and on the ice, he did a lot to bring all the rookies together, scored 19 goals that year (Parros has 19 goals in his whole career), he might have loved the Habs more than anyone else on the team....obviously he wasn't the most important part of the team but he played a regular role and was far more than any tough guy we've had since....Tod Ewen only played one game in the 1993 cup run....

Yes, well said Ron - I'll also add that the documentary The Last Gladiators which featured Nilan was really interesting on many levels and showed first hand a lot of what Ron mentions. I don't think it will change anyone's opinion on whether there should or shouldn't be fighting in hockey but if you have an open mind I guarantee it will give you some real insight into what enforcers go through and the roles they play for the team. After watching the film I think it's a safe bet to say that Chris Nilan played a key role in us winning the cup in 1986, and I don't know if we would have won without him both on the ice and in the dressing room.

I feel bad for Sens fans, getting totally out-cheered in their own building. Is it always like this when they play TO?

Oh yeah Diaz was pretty slick on that play, Gallagher did a great job carrying it up the ice as well!
