Nothing new here..Last 4 games the Habs opposition started to do what Ottawa did in the playoffs..forecheck and activate the d..size wise the Habs have no answer to board play...They did get wins vs Jersey and Buffalo but they were life and death and got a lot of breaks and missed chances by the opposition...and those two teams are not talent loaded...

Someone asked last night why the Habs are not considered cup contenders…I think they are…But when i envision them winning the cup, this is how i see it happening this year based on the team so far… They will need great goaltending,no injuries and a lot of breaks…they will be dominated in their zone a lot of the time and they will need breaks where the opposition misses changes, hits posts and the blocking of shots attempts dont result in weird goals…They will have to maintain their pk and pp stats and score timely goals…All teams will need some of the above…but for the Habs to be more dominant in the playoffs they do need a few upgrades…The two games vs Jersey easily could have gone the other way…The league is very close…even as bad as the Leafs d has been they are only 6 points behind the Habs with a game in hand…

- Comment on Habs get a well-deserved day off (2013-12-07 08:40:58)
The Habs were tired by the third vs the Bruins so the following comment may not apply to this game...The last 3 games it seemed to me that when the opposition teams activated their d and their forwards forechecked the Habs had major problems moving out of their zone... Now the Habs won but i just dont think you can spend so much in your zone and eventually not get burned..this scenario has been the downfall of the Habs over the last few years ..especially in the playoffs where the opposition d pinches even more and the forwards forechecking is way more intense and aggressive than in the regular season...

#4 d would be perfect for the playoff...i still say that one of the Hamilton big 3 should be worked into the lineup..

As mentioned before we should enjoy the regular season and remember that it is a very good accomplishment to make the playoffs and even better if they win their division or conference...The playoff loss llike last year should not take anything away from their season...Now the reality is that the first round again this year will be a toss up...Most Hab games are very close and the Habs are not a dominant team..so in the playoffs couple of bad goals, breaks, injuries or slumps can determine a series...Fans should not be suprised if the Habs finish high in the standings and get beaten in the first round or have a long playoff run...

Season ended now Habs reward for being first in the division would be the Red Wings...Habs had a solid 2nd period but tired in the third...but there still should be a concern as in both games vs the Devils there were extended periods of being dominated in the d zone...

When the opposition d starts to pinch the Habs have real problems...This usually happens in ther playoffs

Markov may be tired today but PK is in a daze so far..long time since he has made so many poor plays

Habs still need a minimum one more d for the playoffs who has size and can move the puck...Hopefully one or 2 of the Hamilton big three can be effective in the playoffs...
