Fans and players alike should have the organ-for-player trade option available. What did we get in exchange for Scott Gomez's heart and balls anyways? :)

You are correct; demotion to Hamilton is the only answer, because no GM in the league is stupid enough to pick him up on waivers for 1/2 the price.

The problem is it's not just one off year; Scott Gomez has been underperforming his salary by a miserable margin for the past 3 consecutive seasons....this past year was just exceptionally bad even by his lowered expectations. This team has serious needs that could be served by 7.5 million in cap space; it's time for Molson to bite the bullet and bury Gomez in Hamilton, much like the Rangers buried Wade Redden in the minors. It's the only way to reclaim the cap hit from a horrific contract. Gomez has nobody to blame but himself.

Lots of positives heading into next season, and lots of potential cap space freed up with Hamrlik's contract coming off the books...and IF our GM does what MUST be done...and buries Scott Gomez's ludicrous cap hit in Hamilton (if nobody takes him off of waivers). Get rid of the 7.5 million dollar hole at center and replace with an upgrade, re-sign our key guys, go get a big stay at home D-man with a mean streak, and this team will excel next season.

So let me get this right...we're betting the farm on a whiny headcase with poor work ethic and an attitude problem?!?!  This move has my mind made up to order NHL Center Ice for next season, so I have the option to watch Caps and Hawks games, becaues I think the Habs will be hard to watch on many nights when Carey poops the bed.  And we all know he does...often.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that saw Saku Koivu for what he really was.  I've said it before, and I'll say it again; Saku Koivu couldn't lead flies to a cow patty.  Overrated.  He faded for long stretches during the season, and became invisible in tough games all too often.  Gionta and Gomez are showing more leadership and determination than Koivu ever did.

[sarcasm]  Only 600k per goal?  Wow!  What a bargain, in that case!  [/sarcasm]
