  While I agree that Price will need the necessary breaks, I think it would be more prudent to play Price against our division rivals. A little longer-term planning on goalie rotation with scheduling of Budaj against teams considered the weak sisters in the conference would make more sense than playing him against one of the strongest teams in the conference.

  Lafleur 1979 game 7 versus the Bruins he was everywhere. He was the flying frenchman. He was everywhere on the ice. Having grown up watching Lafleur I know he could be a little lazy some nights but when it counted he did not have a contemporary.

  I recall sitting in the manoir discussing the potential MLB players strike with Mike Lansing and he tried to convince me of the noble sacrifice the players were making. Didn't buy it then don't buy it now. There are very few in professional sport that look at it from the team/fan point of view. Not the owners and not the players. One of the few who did and left in frustration after giving so much as a fan-owner was Bronfman. I have no faith in the owners or the players so get ready to watch CSI reruns.

  Begining or ending your arguments based on country of orgin gives you a lifetime membership to the Don Cherry fan club. Like Chorske I live in South Florida but also was there to bus folks to the demonstration in support of Canadian federalism. No lessons in Canadian or American civility required.

  An extremely well thought out analysis and I for one agree with most of your analysis. However I think the need for contraction is related more to the lack of 30 North American cities capable of supporting a NHL caliber team at the current level of compensation (cap basement / ceiling) build me a new arena or we will leave. Additionally, nothing wrong with the overall quality of play continuing to improve, it may be time to push the marketing of AHL level hockey and increase the compensation to players at that level. Make the AHL the alternative rather than the KHL. Just a thought.

  Signing in from Hollywood Florida. Just moved here from Carolina. Will I be able to pick up Center Ice on cable in south Florida? Anyone see a scumbag wearing a Canadiens jersey signed by Muller and Dryden it belongs to me stolen from my car during game 1 against Boston last year. Bless Muller for agreeing to sign a new jersey for me. Kick Bruin butt his year boys!!!

  Congrats on the shut-out Mr. Price but did you have to pass the immortal Gump Worsley. Grew up idolizing the Gump he will always be number one in style. Tim Thomas reminds me a bit of Gump except Worsley had much better one liners.
