You're right - Gomez and Cammy haven't been playing to their max but I'm still not on the JM bandwagon. The Pleks, Cammy, AK line was doing pretty well to start the season and he broke it up. Now AK is cold. The entire team looks a little slow, like their heart isn't quite in it.

Against Vancouver there was a REALLY bad line change that resulted in a 4-on-2. That's just lazy, not-paying-attention play. One could argue that they won that Vancouver game but I'm not thrilled with the way they won it. Again, we got both goals from unlikely sources (defensemen) and very often we had to rely on our goaltender to bail us out.

Maybe I'm completely wrong but even in that shutout I don't see the Habs playing up to their potential. I'm sure that JM is here to stay so the players will just have to find a way to score goals and keep the coach happy with defensive play.

Oh, and thanks for the kind words! Sometimes I feel like I'm talking to myself here - nice to know there's a visitor to the crazy house.

    Thanks!

And you're bang on - we need, and have needed, that big netcrashing forward. Not Dagger, or Lats, or Moen. I'm confident saying that it's not Pouliot (unless he suddenly becomes a completely different style player) or even Eller, who's probably more suited as a 2nd or 3rd line center. I'd love some type of Ryan Smyth type player but we have no one in the system who matches that profile. Until we find a solution, however, we're always going to have a huge glaring hole that's going to be our Achilles' heel.

Not sure if this has been mentionned yet but Scottie Upshall just tweeted some trash talk.

    From Twitter:

Little pregame skate in Montreal. Love it here. Especially Lv winning here in front of 20,000 fans. "Ole, ole ole ole.." (quiet please)

Anyone going to the game: let's get some coordinated heckles going, alright?

    I'm for either Sno-ttieee or Up-Yours.

    Let's get after it.

I guess Thursday's line-up experiment was a bust. Let's hope things work out a bit better in Ottawa.

I don't know if getting PP time is a good thing on this team...

You know who else we traded to St-Louis? Matt D'Agostini. The kid already has 3 goals. The Habs don't have anyone with 3 goals. I'm not saying I want Dagger back but once in a while I'd like a trade to work for us.

You're right - my goal predictions might be a bit... optimistic. But that's what you've got to hope for right? Improvement. All of my numbers are reasonable but it might be asking for a lot to have the whole team improve. These predictions are also staked on a pretty healthy roster, which is rare for a whole season.

I don't think the goals by defencemen is too off the mark. Spacek has already been shooting the puck a lot this year and I think his production last season was lower than what was expected from him. Maybe PK and Markov won't get 16 and 15, respectively, but I'm hoping it will be close. If Streit and Souray could break 20...

"sent from the future to rescue Habs fans from three(?) more years of safe Jacques Martin hockey" - HILARIOUS!

Fun game. Expecting a lot from Eller and Desharnais. Maybe too much??

In terms of pre-season as much as fans can ask for. Give us a full team and Habs fans will have a lot to cheer for this season.

Awesome points... (although I think Sundin was born in St-Louis de Ha Ha). Marois et al. couldn't care less about hockey, the Nords or even the Habs. They're just playing politics and trying find ways to create rifts.

I'd be really interested to see if the Nordiques could survive. I'm sure they still have a lot of fans but many kids have grown up only knowing the Habs. And if they did survive would they seperate into French/English fan bases?
