2 Things: I can understand Jagr wanting to play in the best league in the world. But why Montreal? Why not Toronto or Ottawa or Florida even. That way he's guaranteed to be done early and participate in the World Championships which is far more important to the European players. Secondly, does anyone know how much longer CBC will have the rights to the finals and all playoff games involving Canadian teams? I'm sorry, but what was once the benchmark for hockey broadcasting has become a shadow of its former self. TSN offers by far, superior coverage. Maybe its a case of becoming complacent at the top. Maclean, Stock, Milbury, Cherry, Cole, Healy are quite simply not very good. I'm not at all a fan of Pierre McGuire, but he and his TSN cohorts are much better at what they do.

I have a question for Boone or anyone else who might know. Can the Canadiens do what the Rangers did with redden or the Hawks with Huet and park Gomez in the minors or let him go to Europe for the duration of his contract? This would free up valuable Cap space and let them get a player(s) with that money. I understand they still have to pay him, but wouldn't this be addition by substraction?

Jason M's comments were bang on. JM should've blown a gasket after Gomez got called, not because it was a bad call, Gomez deserved a penalty for sure, but because of the non-calls before that. Ruff complains, the calls go his way, against Pittsburgh last week Bylsma spoke to the refs for about a minute and a half prior to the 2nd period..Habs received 6 straight penalties. It's how you play the game Jacques, lobby the refs, don't just sit there with your arms folded shaking your head and muttering tabernack under your breath.

Plus you know what else...it shows the players your on their side and you've got their back. There's a reason players loved to play for Pat Burns and it wasn't because he was the second coming of Toe Blake or Scotty Bowman.

"Six consecutive penalties is an aberration in a league that tends to even up the calls."

One would think, but this happens often to the Habs. They are near the bottom, if not last in PP opportunities for vs PP against, I think it's around -30, which is odd for a fast team with no goons. (Even odder is I believe the Leafs are near the top of this stat). Pouliot was finally playing well, I hope this doesn't set him back.

Also, at the start of the 2nd period, before either team came out, Bylsma was at his bench chatting with the ref for a good 90 seconds. There was some hand-gesturing, but it seemed civilized...Habs received the next 6 penalties. If Bylsma sat there with his arms folded and shook his head, would that have the same effect?....just wondering.

Too much down time at work stat: Habs have given up 9 goals in the last minute of a period this year. They're 2-7 in those games. Conversely they've scored 3, where they're 3-0 (empty-net goals excluded)

OK, I'm not a McGuire fan, in fact I'll watch RDS or the oppsosing teams feed just so I don't have to listen to him. Yes, the man knows his hockey but he's also President of the Pierre McGuire fan club. McGuire doesnt like JM OR Pierre Gauthier. JM got the job in Ottawa in '96 ahead of McGuire and he's been bitter ever since. His point is not without merit, but it's important to remember that he (McGuire) has an agenda of his own.

That's exactly what happened, Khabibulin has been activated. Dubnyk expected to start tonight though.

Anyone up for a road trip Dec 17th when the Preds take on the Devils? Should be some real firewagon hockey. Seriously, last nights game reminded me of New Jersey-Hartford circa 1995. The poor family in front of me were taking their kids to their 1st ever Habs game. I hope they summon up the will to come back.

    JF,

I don't know if we can call Broadstreethockey.com and its creator Travis Hughes " Flyers Media ". He's just a Flyers fan who has an online blog. He even writes how he was watching the game on Versus (probably at his house). Let's not also forget that in Philadelphia they're not Hockey fans, there Flyers fans. With that in mind, Hughes is just giving his followers what they want. He's clearly watching the games through orange colored glasses.

I enjoy reading the other team's take on the games involving the Habs and I'll read their blogs and sometimes get all bent out of shape before I realise that it's just some clown who has an opinion, and you know what opinions are like...everyone has one.

Lalime tonight, possibly Leclaire tomorrow and Luongo on Tuesday. I don't like this at all.

Good ol' Sportsline. I went to Ottawa U in '88 and we'd turn the music off to listen to Tatti and Hebscher in the bar.

How bout that Labatt 50 ad. Bring back the stubby's I say!
