Habs fan since: a really long time ago
Favorite current player: I know he's not a Hab, but Ryan Smyth, ever since the Stanley Cup finals a few years back when he took a slapshot to the face, calmly bent over to pick up his teeth, missed two shifts and came back to score the winning goal.
All-time favorite player: Ryan Smyth

I don't have all the details, but there's actually been some really promising work in detecting Alzheimer's via blood test. From the article: "“We demonstrated we could accurately and repetitively detect Alzheimer’s disease, with small samples of blood,” says Papadopoulos. “This test also allowed for differential diagnosis of early stages of Alzheimer’s disease, suggesting this can be used as a test to diagnose the disease in its infancy.” He believes the test may also be used to distinguish Alzheimer’s dementia from other cognitive impairments." -- Devils coach Jacques Lemaire on the Daneyko-Kaminski feud - "Daneyko got mad when Kaminski said he was going to knock his teeth out. Agreed on Tinordi -- he's better than Allen in every respect, IMO. I understand the trade from the perspective of next year's cap hit, but I don't get why Tinordi isn't playing (unless we're concerned about this year's cap hit). Can't imagine that our current D corps will still all be there after the trade deadline. On Gilbert, still like the signing -- he cost no assets, plays tougher minutes than he gets credit for, and is a solid backup plan at worst. And like you say, he's easily moveable. Agreed too that our bottom six is gritty enough -- it's our top six that needs an upgrade. -- Devils coach Jacques Lemaire on the Daneyko-Kaminski feud - "Daneyko got mad when Kaminski said he was going to knock his teeth out. Fair point, and you may well be right. I'd be surprised if MB is done tinkering though -- he's got too many centres, nine NHL-ready defencemen not counting Pateryn and Nygren, and deficiency at just one position: LW. EDM's needs really complement our excess depth nicely, and vice-versa. Though if MB's track record is anything to go by, this won't happen -- he only does deals that absolutely no one is expecting. : ) -- Devils coach Jacques Lemaire on the Daneyko-Kaminski feud - "Daneyko got mad when Kaminski said he was going to knock his teeth out. Perron's not a rock star, but he'd instantly be our second-best LW by a mile -- the guy managed 28 goals last year on a godawful team. Dealing DD and, say, Weaver and Pateryn for him would mean Galchenyuk could move back to centre, and it frees up some ice time for our young D-men. Even Morgan Ellis gets an instant call-up back to Hamilton from the ECHL. Makes a ton of sense to me. I know EOTP gets a lot of hate on here -- some of it deserved -- but they make the good point that if DD is ever going to be dealt, it'll likely be for another homeboy like Perron. -- Devils coach Jacques Lemaire on the Daneyko-Kaminski feud - "Daneyko got mad when Kaminski said he was going to knock his teeth out. As with gravity, there's no right or left with climate change -- just science. Fully 97% of climate scientists agree that humans are very likely warming the planet. What more do we need to be convinced? 98%? The introduction of political terms like "right" and left" into climate change discussions demonstrates that any the debate around this is a political issue, not a scientific one. -- Devils coach Jacques Lemaire on the Daneyko-Kaminski feud - "Daneyko got mad when Kaminski said he was going to knock his teeth out. Saw my name (sort of) in the ALN and decided to log back in for the first time in a year or so -- WOO 5-1 TO START THE SEASON!!! Not gonna plan the parade, but we'll be delighted to have those 10 points come April. -- Devils coach Jacques Lemaire on the Daneyko-Kaminski feud - "Daneyko got mad when Kaminski said he was going to knock his teeth out. • Comment on Habs sign Weise to two-year contract (2014-06-18 11:45:57)
Habs have got to re-sign Markov, if only because losing him for nothing means you have to replace him (for something). Why let him walk and swap Plekanec for Yandle, if that effectively means losing two good players and having a less well-rounded team? And Chris rightly points out that Yandle wasn't good enough for a U.S. Olympic team that included Paul Martin and Brooks Orpik. My $0.02, for what it's worth: re-sign Markov for two years if he's willing, and look to sign UFA Klesla for a slightly limited role so that Beaulieu and Tinordi get the ice time they need, ideally including some top-pairing minutes with Subban. Deal Emelin to a team where he can play his natural side, maybe packaging him for a scoring winger. We keep all our assets or get equal value for them, and our blue line is at least as strong as it was this year. -- Devils coach Jacques Lemaire on the Daneyko-Kaminski feud - "Daneyko got mad when Kaminski said he was going to knock his teeth out. Either way, we've got nothing to complain about. We've got great expectations here in Montreal, and had even those lofty expectations surpassed. You might get ripped, but not by me. We've got one first-liner (aside from Vanek), but we make up for it with depth. Two 2nd lines, and clutch scoring from the 4th -- not many teams would have Briere on their bottom line. We've also got just one top-2 D, but again, we make up for it somewhat with depth. This is a more critical problem though, IMO -- your top pairing plays huge minutes and provides both defence and offence. I'd wager that a big part of our forwards' scoring struggles is caused by the lack of offensive support from he blue line after Subban. Markov isn't who he used to be, and Bouillon-Emelin is a brutal PP pairing. I hope Beaulieu can step up, but failing that, top-2 D-men don't grow on trees. -- Devils coach Jacques Lemaire on the Daneyko-Kaminski feud - "Daneyko got mad when Kaminski said he was going to knock his teeth out.
