I agree it was great for Maniwaki to salute Gino, and I enjoyed watching him play for the Habs, and wish nothing but the best for him and his family, but hanging a jersey in the rafters is an honor for one's on-ice accomplishments.

Maritime Ronn, or Lafleurguy, would either of you be willing to contact me via email to help me out with this? I checked out the link, and I understand the code, but I have no idea where the code is supposed to go.

Does anyone know how to add an avatar/picture to a profile? I used to have a picture on my profile, but when the site was upgraded, the picture disappeared. I've tried editing my profile, but didn't see anywhere to add a picture. Thanks in advance!

Interesting you mention this. Back in the mid-80's, there was a tv channel called SportsChannel New York. They actually broadcast an entire hockey game (I believe it was an Islanders game) with no announcers, only the "sounds of the game and the fans". They promoted it as an experiment, but they never did another. It was extremely entertaining. I don't know about others, but I've been watching hockey for over 40 years, and I don't need an "analyst" to teach me the game. I used to enjoy the old CBC Hockey Night in Canada when Danny Gallivan and Dick Irvin treated viewers as intelligent fans.

Houle was #14 before he left for the WHA, and #15 when he returned. Those were his primary numbers with Montreal.

What did Koivu do to deserve his number being retired? He was arguably the "face of the franchise" during his tenure in Montreal, but they never won anything. Being a class act, and the fact he beat cancer are irrelevant to retiring a player's number. That should be reserved for the best of the best. Check his career numbers, and the success or lack thereof of his teams, and Koivu doesn't qualify.
- Comment on Multimedia: Martin out, Cunneyworth in as Habs fire head coach (2011-12-17 17:33:00)
Finally! Maybe Gauthier was giving Martin enough rope to hang himself with. The numerous too many men penalties was just one example of the sloppy play over the past few years. If anglo coaches are now in play, how about Larry Robinson? Anyone have any interesting ideas on who the next permanent coach might be? Also, can anyone tell me how to re-add my avatar? I can't find an option in the profile to do it. Thanks, and happy holidays!

Koivu a number one center, that's hilarious.

Koivu, a #1 center, you've got to be kidding! He was fast, was tenacious, and gave it his all every minute of every shift, but no way was he a #1 center. A #1 center is an all around player, one that can score as well as play defense. A very good player, yes. #1 center, no way.
