Even then he was given a lot more chances to succeed offensively - 8/22 points were on PP. Unlike Eller he can't play a shut down role or kill penalties. I just wish they would give Chucky the same chance and see how he would do.

@Jon514 You initiated some interesting discussion earlier about David Desharnais. I have not been a big fan - not because I don't admire or respect him - rather because of the limitations he has. He performs well with top wingers , favorable ice time, and first power play duties. And for what he delivers he carries a good cap hit. However even now when he is most productive he does not produce ( or is he paid to produce) as a dominant center. The only top 3 draft pick we have had in the last number of years could be that number one stud center - and perhaps be dominant. The Habs are stuck - if they give Chucky a chance - ( see Colorado - McKinnon) DD would have to play with less dominant players - and it is not a certainty that he can do that. He does not kill penalties, is not a shut down guy - so the Habs are basically stuck with him as a decent but not dominant first line center. I think this is clearest on the PP - it has not been productive for months - DD really doesn't carry or retrieve the puck effectively. Once we have possession he can deal some pretty nifty passes. But I would love to see Chucky on the number one PP unit.

Two questions 1. Doesn't fighting while wearing a visor seem a little idiotic? 2. Should the refs step in when someone's helmet comes off in a fight?

One for our last 26 PPs. Maybe change the first unit?

As long as our number one line has a center who ranks 158th in scoring it will be difficult to win. It was great that he had a goal in the third period and it will help the stats - but it would have been nice in the first or second period when we had 3 power plays and he started each one. It is remarkable how bad our power play is - and this with PK and Markov at the point. DD cannot retrieve the puck , carry the zone , or shoot. Yes he can make a cute pass when all the stars align - but it is not enough. He ranks 49 th in scoring amongst centers and there are only 30 teams. A team needs a dominant line. Unfortunately we have gone through another season where a potential dominant center is not getting his chance (#27).

Poor Roberto. He heard he was going to Florida and thought " Great - I get to play with Mike Weaver". And then nooooooooo. He's gone.

    Decline the penalty?

I hope winning will mean more than sneaking into the playoffs.

Lots of talk about Lars Eller. He's strong,he's big.he hits, has pretty good hands - obviously not a fit for the Habs. In the last two years he has played 107 games and has 18 goals and 33 assists for 51 points ( .47 PPG) He kills penalties , and is given no PP time. David Desharnais has played 106 games, scored 21 goals, 41 assists for 62 points ( .58 PPG).. He plays with the top wingers and doesn't get shuffled around. He plays top PP minutes and doesn't contribute defensively. He is soft and easy to play against. He goes down like a rag doll.It is laughable. We could win with Lars Eller as the number 3 center. WE WILL NEVER BE A WINNING TEAM WITH DAVID DESHARNAIS AS THE NUMBER ONE CENTER.

Therrien has destroyed him. He won't play for him any more - and I don't blame him.
