- Comment on Canadiens vs. Blue Jackets preview: Smith-Pelly to make Habs debut; Thomas a healthy scratch (2015-02-26 11:44:32)
It's amazing how much flack Eller gets on the RDS sites. I like DLR - but he has not shown yet that Eller is expendable. If Eller plays with good players things happen. If you check the stats of third line centers in the NHL Eller is average. ( E.G. Andrew Shaw Chicago 9-6=15). Hopefully he will be around after Monday - he is one of the few forwards who performed in the play-offs last year. If we had more secondary scoring and losing games 5-4 would that be better? Our team is designed around CP - stay in the game and hope to get a break and win 2-1.
- Comment on Habs trade Jiri Sekac to Anaheim for Devante Smith-Pelly (2015-02-24 13:41:14)
I think as Habs fans we tend to overvalue our picks and prospects and fall in love with them. I remember all the negative reaction to the Thomas - Kristo trade - both 2nd round picks. Still do know how it will work out but Thomas is an interesting prospect. Sekac is also an interesting prospect - but so is DSP. Clearly MT was not going to use him on the top two lines. DSP seems like a better third liner. Let's see if our team will be better.

Anyone think that MB would consider renegotiating and extending Max's contract? It's not usually done but would be a classy move.

I don't hate MT. But I thought his comments about Eller in particular were not very professional. I don't know what to make of Eller - would he thrive somewhere else with a different role? Here are some stats from http://stats.hockeyanalysis.com From 2012- 2015 - points produced 5 on 5 for 60 minutes played. Max 2.38 ( 21st in league). Gallagher 2.08 ( 57th) DD 1.83 ( 116) Lars 1.53 ( 227) So for every 60 minutes five on five ( or about 4 games) DD outproduces Eller by 0.3 points. Or one point every 12-13 games. Lets not include O zone vs D zone face-offs , linemates etc. Basically the production 5 on 5 is not very impressive. I agree with Timo's post earlier - trade whoever for whatever but even with Price in nets I can't see us winning the cup with DD as our number one center.

Actually MT said that Eller and Sekac hadn't scored in two months and didn't have the ability or skill. Odd thing to say. I seem to recall that his favorite player did not have a point in 17 games last year but was given that opportunity and it seemed to jumpstart him. Different strokes for different folks
- Comment on Canadiens vs. Senators preview: Tokarski, Pateryn, Sekac in lineup for Habs (2015-02-18 12:12:29)
I'm amazed how many people want to through Eller under the bus. Not enough secondary scoring. Serious? We rank 29th on the road in scoring yet best record in NHL on the road. Why - CP of course. But don't discount the job Eller is doing logging tough minutes, and very often keeping puck in O- zone. Drawing penalties. Forcing O-zone face-offs.That is our formula now and he is a big part of it. The reason everyone talks about Eller is because he has value. That is because he is valuable. To us! Everyone says that DD is not tradeable - has no value - why? Because it is perceived that he is not a #1 or # 2 center. He probably has more value to us than others because he is a good guy, hard working, and probably popular in the room. But our " 1 " line has one real first line player. And until that changes we will not have very much primary scoring. But let's blame that on Lars.
- Comment on Game Within the Game: Beaulieu stands up for Gonchar (2015-02-15 14:38:20)
Yesterday I found this site and was looking at some stats. http://stats.hockeyanalysis.com/index.php Finally able to clarify what bothers me about DD - and how looking at numbers can be deceiving. 5 on 5 he is 5-16 =21 ( 5th on the team). 5 on 5 leading in game – 4-9 =13.(4th) 5 on 5 leading at home 2-9=11 ( 2nd). 5 on 5 leading by 2 goals – 2-3 =5 ( first). 5 on 5 trailing – 1-2 =3 ( 9th) 5 on 5 trailing on the road 0-1 = 1 ( 9th). That's right - he ranks 9th on our team amongst forwards when we are on the road and trailing. Basically don’t put him out there if we are behind; if we get a 2 goal lead he is a star. And not bad , I admit , 4 on 4. But in tight games and especially on the road – not impressive. And the playoffs? Usually tight games.
- Comment on Liveblog: Canadiens eke one out over lowly Leafs (2015-02-14 23:27:20)
Not that the stars matter much but if Santorelli doesn't score in the shootout then 27 is the first star? Pretty silly,

Killing time before the game and came across this website. http://stats.hockeyanalysis.com/index.php Finally able to clarify what bothers me about DD. 5 on 5 he is 5-16 =21 ( 5th on the team). 5 on 5 leading in game - 4-9 =13.(4th) 5 on 5 leading by 2 goals - 2-3 =5 ( first). 5 on 5 trailing - 1-2 =3 ( 9th) 5 on 5 trailing on the road 0-1 = 1 ( 9th). 5 on 5 leading at home 2-9=11 ( 2nd). Basically don't put him out there if we are behind; if we get a 2 goal lead he is a star. And not bad , I admit , 4 on 4. But in tight games and especially on the road - not impressive.

I think I got the same message. We must be related!
