- Comment on Habs make Jacob de la Rose their final cut before season opener (2014-10-07 16:24:01)
Agreed. What isn't factored in is that often Pleks jumped in with 35 seconds left on the PP and Bouillon and Gorges at the point. DD had the face -off in O zone and 79 and 76 at the point.

Lars Eller could be a very solid 3rd line center , especially if put with consistently with 2 solid wingers. Pleks has already proved he is a consistent two-way center. Unfortunately we will have to put up with another season of having a " number 1 " line that may not produce like a number one line should. They will start the PP's with 79 and 76 and the face-off in the o zone and they will not put up the numbers because DD is not a number one center. We saw it all of last year on the PP and again in the play-offs. I read that people may expect 60 points from DD. Is that a reasonable expectation for a center who gets all the offensive zone assignments and has a sniper on the left wing and two of the best defencemen on the point to start the pp?
- Comment on Bouillon hopes to keep playing after being released by Canadiens (2014-10-07 13:58:11)
Yes - you are right. But two of the #2 lines have defensive responsibilities ( 14,81) and one gets all the offensive zone and #1 PP time. @& should replace 51 on PP. Hope we see that.
- Comment on Gionta, Gorges headed to Sabres; Habs sign Malhotra, Weaver and others (2014-07-02 12:22:47)
I'm not sure this should be a Chucky / Pleks conundrum - it should be a Chucky - DD conundrum. DD is not a number one center - plain and simple. The play-offs showed that ( yes he made a nice pass to Max - but was 4th in scoring amongst our centers). Our PP would be stronger without him. Since DD offers nothing else in terms of size, defense, PK - he's the one to go. Yet everyone says he's untradeable. If he is - that means no one wants him - why should we?
- Comment on Habs trade Brière to Colorado for Parenteau (2014-06-30 14:58:28)
I guess Parenteau would be 3rd line RW. Good bye Captain Gionta.
- Comment on Defenceman Lernout, forward Audette among Habs’ six draft picks (2014-06-29 09:14:57)
Visit http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/nhl2014e.html Click on any team and see how many games have been played by the drafted players in the last 5 years. Very few. All drafted players are long term projects other than the occasional top 5 pick. Check out Chicago,Detroit- no different. Check out Toronto - ugh.
- Comment on Habs trade Leblanc to Ducks; Therrien gets four-year contract extension (2014-06-15 10:51:25)
At first I was a little disappointed that MT got a 4 year extension. I think he is much better the second time around but I'm not crazy about his work with the younger players. But after hours of deep thought and reflection I decide it was a good move - that with a few years of security he can actually plan for the future and give the young guys more opportunities - Tinordi,Beaulieu, Pateryn, Chucky. We may have to take a half a step aback to give these guys a chance to develop..
- Comment on HI/O Show: Habs will face more pressure next season (2014-06-08 09:30:53)
Interesting how everyone agrees there is not a big market for Desharnais. That is because he is not very useful. So as a result we keep him. So that he can be not very useful for us.

@captain Ahab I was driving up north last year listening to team 990. They were taking calls about the greatest athletic achievements. I called and said without a doubt the greatest thing I ever saw was Secretariat winning the Belmont stakes. It still gives me goosebumps and I love listening to the inflection in the announcers voice when it becomes apparent what is a happening. I strongly suggest that readers go to to you tube and find the various videos of the race.
- Comment on “This is the tightest group we’ve ever had,” Price says of Habs (Video) (2014-06-01 14:39:58)
Slowly coming to terms with our season coming to an end. Lots of positives. 1. Goaltending Superb - Toker was a surprise. But Carey was outstanding all year and emerged not only as an outstanding improved goalie but as a real character guy and leader. He makes the saves look easy and never calls out his d-men for a bad play. And for those who think his injury made no difference I respectfully disagree. He gives the team confidence, intimidates the opponents , and clears the puck better than most. He is a real leader. 2. Defense PK, Emelin ( on the left side) , Gorges, Weaver, Beaulieu, Tinordi, and Pateryn give us some outstanding games to look forward to. Markov? Don't ask me - I'm a blogger , not a GM. 3. Forwards Some outstanding young talent. Hopefully they give 27 a chance to shine at center. Eller could be a stud. Gally, Max are aces. Weisse, Prust can be effective. I'm not a big DD fan - don't know what they should do with him. Pleks has way more to offer. 4. Special teams PK has been great. But PP has been horrible. It would be my major criticism of MT this year. DD was not productive -there are many that say this was because he was matched against top D-men. All number one centers are, And this doesn't explain the horrible production on PP. Max has a great shot but is otherwise not very creative Gally goes to the net. Plex and Chucky would be way more effective on the half-boards. Prospects? Perhaps Andrighetti can step in. I haven't given up on Louis Leblanc - still could play on 3rd line - although not sure MT and MB will give him a chance. Should be a great game tonight. And thanks habs for a great ride.
