We should all just be friends. You know what, that would actually be way less fun.. TomNickle is brutal.

I was at the 2012 All-star party and did shots with Carey Price. Since we're name dropping.

I don't recall any fights in the final. There might have been a couple, but I can't remember them. Darryl Sutter is who I'd give the credit to. I remember watching the Flames play the Red Wings the year they made the finals and I was thinking to myself how incredible their forecheck was and how intense they were playing every shift. I had the exact same 'in awe' moment this year. Darryl Sutter should have got the Conn Smythe.

Gallant is a very common Anglophone name on the east coast and it is of English origin. Not that it matters too much, just clearing it up for those who are surprised he doesn't speak French.

This year, in Ottawa, at all-star weekend, I had the pleasure of sneaking into the VIP party and doing some serious partying with my idols. It was a mission that I completed. If I took one good thing from the conversations I had (more or less just listened in on), it was Aaron Ward and Carey Price talking about how great of a coach and a mentor Randy Ladouceur is. I'm disappointed that he is gone. (For the record, Aaron Ward may have been the drunkest guy there other than Dion Phaneuf. The guy's an animal.)

Good points. When it comes down to it, it's difficult to base your opinion of a coach solely on their record in the past. So many factors come into play and often times you just need to get lucky. When it comes to hiring a new coach it's important to look at what qualities he brings to the table, rather than just past successes and failures. Having said that, Therrien's record isn't THAT bad.

Do you have a peach tree in your yard? I think the rabbit would eat a peach if the peaches are there, but if there's no peach tree, then where are the peaches coming from? Also, rabbits don't speak, typically.

100%. If the timing would have been right the first time around, he would have taken over for JM last season. Unfortunately, he wasn't kept too good of a secret and his success with a sub par Hamilton team was hard to ignore. If only he would have waited one or two more seasons to become recognized as one of the hottest up-and-coming coaches in hockey. Let's hope the timing is right this time around. But we can't bank on it. Start grooming a stud in Hamilton now and make sure he's still around when it's his turn to take over and guys like Boucher aren't available.

Let's give him a chance, folks. I realize the talent pool was thin with regards to the coaching search, but there are some smart fellas in charge now who put a lot of work into getting this decision as right as they could. They wouldn't have hired him if they weren't confident that he can succeed. Side note: we need to start grooming a future head coach to take over when he inevitably gets fired somewhere during his 2nd or 3rd season.
