For every example you give (and some of them I am VERY happy he let go, by the way) there are examples of great moves. How about Craig Rivet for Josh Gorges and Max Pac ??? And every GM makes some bad moves. If they didn't the same team would finish first and win the cup every year. If you like today's team, you have no choice but to like what Gainey did (minus the coach) And strangely enough, his "disasterous" moves brought a Stanley Cup to Dallas first time around. Not to mention an eastern conference final and first place finish in Montreal

I was thinking the same thing. Gainey assembled good talent, and is responsible for 90% of today's team and prospects. But he made some iffy choices as coach. Probably his main mistake. At lot of that has to do with Bob's loyalty. Very admirable quality, but sometimes it gets in the way

Give me a break...grasp reality. The team under BG NEVER got humilitated like this, and if I recall, went to a conference championship AND was a first place team. Give your head a shake and pass the blame where it is due.

Three things I noticed 1) The Leafs weren't very good...the Habs were just THAT bad 2) I have never seen a more embarassing display of homer-ish from the commmentators on HNIC. I mean Healy was downright nauseating. 3) MT was in all ways, shapes and forms, was outcoached. These guys couldn't have been less prepared. Never been a MT fan regardless of how good the Habs looked for a few games this season.

For all of the complainers about last years team...this team looks worse. Slower, softer and less organized.

"dream team of Maguire/ Roy" Was that a joke...seriously. Especially Maguire. I can only think of a misguided few who thought Maguire was anything more than a blowhard. No offense dude, but your are getting a bit too worked up about this. Reassess at Christmas and see if their record warrants you feeling this way. I don't like Therrien either, but it's pretty over the top for a team that hasn't played a game yet.

So, for a rebuilding tream, trade a pick that will command a low salary, and potentially be a franchise player for 12-14 years, for a guy that is near the end of his career and has 2 good years left...and a huge salary ? Ummm, no

Pal..what are you smoking. BG did not "hire" Gauthier..he stepped aside and ownership appointed the Ghost. Also, he took them to the playoffs in 5 out of 6 years ( compare that to before is tenure) and the team improved significantly. Not to mention a first place finish and a conference final. As for draft picks, how about Price, Subban, Pleks, Paches, and trading for Gorges. No moves a GM makes are perfect..anywhere, and BG made some bad moves, just like any GM, but to say he had terrible draft picks and the team only “improved slightly” is ridiculous. All that…and compare that to Brian Burke who some thing is actually a good GM. Also, I mentioned that BG was highly respected around the league and would not be out of a job long. Someone ( I think it was smartdog…and if I have that wrong I apologise) mentioned nobody would try and hire BG. I laughed…he thought I was crazy. I knew as soon as BG was a free agent, his phone would be ringing. He is just too well respected and sought after. I guess some people are merely fans for a reason, and not actually involved in hockey.

I wouldn't be so sure about the SD...he is very highly regarded around the league. If you think otherwise, you are clearly dillusional, and are letting your personal opinion get in the way
