As a 24 year old, Penner scored 45 points his first full season in Anaheim playing on a line with Getzlaf and Perry in 82 games. Penner went the college route and didn't start his pro career until he was 22 years old. Since then he has scored 47 points in 82 games, 37 points in 78 games and 63 points in 82 games after he was taken on a RFA grab by GM Kevin Lowe.
I don't think your example of 'worst years of his career' qualifies in this instance, especially seeing how the quality of line mates dropped off as well and he only played one full season in Ananheim.

Halak for 2 to 4 million, dream on., more like 4 to 5 million. If we would have lost him to another team on a RFA grab, we would have got a 1st and 3rd rounder....next year. So it would be 2-to 3 years before we saw any return on our investment. Eller should be good to go this year and Shultz brings some of the muscle, size and the bad attitude we've been looking for, not even mentioning the fact that this move freed up the cash we needed to keep Pleky.
For the life of me, I can't understand why you Price haters can write off a 22 year old kid before his career has even started.
BTW Do you remember two superstars who left for the big pay days named Huet and Theodore?

What a bunch of vultures.
J.T. has a valid point, both the Kostitsyns were exposed throughout their childhood to high levels of radiation and to toxic chemicals because of their proximity to Chernobyl and the chemical production factories. It's not like Soviet Russia gave a minutes thought about the safety of their serfs and personally, I don't give a $#it what the World Health Organization has to say about this matter or any other. These are the same criminals who rammed the supposed H1N1 pandemic down our throats, so that Big Pharma could rape and pillage with wild abandon while brow beating the masses into injecting thimerosol into our children and elderly.
Do any of you really think talking to, or knowing the Kostitsyn's is going to clear up the question of whether they suffer or will suffer because of their, and millions of others from this area, tragic exposure to radiation poisoning, heavy metals or toxic chemicals? The ramifications from this type of exposure could show up tomorrow, a week from now, in 20 years or never.
Where was the self-righteous indigence when a moron called our French Canadian players a bunch of "pepsi's" a couple of threads back in the Darche re-signing story?
J.T. has forgot more about hockey than most of you will ever know. No wonder she rarely posts here anymore. Vultures.

You sound just like a leaf fan. Montreal never had "first pick from Quebec" At the time of the so-called 'French Canadian Rule', teams signed players to C-forms. Anyone who could skate and chew gum at the same time were signed as soon as they showed any potential, for instance Bobby Orr signed 3 weeks before his 12 birthday. The Habs could grab anyone from Quebec who had not signed a C form, which meant practically no-one. Houle, Tardiff and Plasse were the only three noteable players who were ever signed under this so-called great big advantage. In 1970, the NHL implemented a universal draft system, that ended the C form era, which probably broke all kinds of laws dealing with servitude, especially child labour laws.
I've always wondered where the term 'Ignorance is bliss' came from. Now I know. How do you expect anyone to take your comments seriously, if you don't know what the hell you're talking about?

It's kind of ironic, but the real reason the Martin/sens tandem never won anything is because they never had a goalie. LaLime was a sieve, Hasek quit and Emery was a nut job. He had the horses, he just never had a goalie.
