It's apparent we still have a few holes to plug. A few guys need to be upgraded to something better if we are to compete. I'm looking at Briere, Bourque and Moen all need someone with similar skillsets but frankly, better. The rest would fall into place. On D, really disappointed we didn't pick up anyone of value, namely a guy like Nick Schultz or Andrew McDonald, who would have been younger and better upgrades, and were going for cheap. Our defence is a makeshift defence that I hope gets purged in the summer. Vanek is not enough at this stage, still a few upgrades away to make some real noise. The only thing to our advantage is a weak eastern conference with very inconsistent teams behind us. But of course, I will watch and hope the aforementioned guys play over their heads down the stretch. "I don't wanna see Maurice tonight, I want the Rocket!"

Ill answer your 3 parts as best as possible: -The olympics has always had fellow respect for athletes with some exceptions. Amateur athletes (unless Chinese in Bejing 2008) are thrilled with Silver, whereas in Hockey, unless you're a weaker team, silver is nothing. -Endorsements are okay, you only get those if you're really good anyways. He had to get good first to get those endorsements, which I think is the key. -Salaries above a normal person's salary for playing are not. I'd draw the line there, keeping the female "pros" in the olympics, but not the men.

as mentioned below, I don't want NHL players in the Olympics. They are polar opposites of other athletes. Ones who earn peanuts a year to do something they love (on top of whatever full time job they may or may not have) and are respectful of their fellow athletes. Yes, we love hockey, woop-dee-doo, just have a world cup of hockey and remove the embarrassment of overshadowing the real Olympic heroes.

It's why our track record on big ice is pretty awful. Possession is one thing, but gotta use the spaces on big ice and feed passes in, not hang around on the periphery, which is further from the net than usual. I still think the Swedes are the favourites. Masters of the big ice, and enough talent to do it, as opposed to the Finns who are too decimated.

Good call, no goal. It wouldnt be right for the integrity of the game, calling that a goal. Can't hack at the puck on top of the net, its dangerous too. Win on legit goals!

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I don't think NHLers or other pros should be in the olympics. This is not a pinnacle to these guys as it is to others, and Canada(and others) didn't even smile when they won or enjoyed just being there. They get paid millions per year while heroes like Charles Hamelin or Alex Bilodeau live and die by the olympics, and act like true professionals because of it. I would like to see only amateur hockey players in the olympics, and the NHL or pros can have their own Canada Cup/World cup of hockey thing every 4 years instead. Bad timing based on the good games we've been seeing, but as I said, we could have a world cup of hockey instead of trivializing all the other athletes.

I have been wanting big ice for ages, too! It actually forces play away from the dump and grind boring NHL style right now.

Ron Maclean should not have a job. He's even more useless than "Raisins" and that ain't saying much.

If you wanna get technical, the Romanians are descents from those of the roman empire, hence the Romance language connection. The Finns however, are in their own language family and ethnic group, nothing similar to the Norwegians. i.e. You're way closer than "Raisins".
