The replay of the hit on Max clearly shows that Stone used his stick to propel Max into the boards. It was a vicious and dangerous hit when you consider the use of the stick and Max's proximity to the boards. It definitely merited a major penalty and a game misconduct although I was not surprised at the non-call given who was working the game. I think that 3 to 5 games is about right depending upon the extent of Max's injuries. I also have a huge problem with how the NHL is assigning officials. An AHL neophyte like Darcy Burchill had absolutely no business being any where near the Bell Centre last night and I suspect any decent even mediocre official would have deemed the calls on PK to be non calls..... Another Friday night home game was the Centennial Game against the Bruins. 4 Goals for Cammaleri and a satisfying blow out win.......

Two Quebecers to referee tonight's game- Justin St. Pierre and Marc Joanette. St. Pierre last worked at the Bell Centre on Nov. 20 when the Blues were in town AND one of the Referees allegedly said something extremely inappropriate to Brendan Gallagher. I was hoping that "Referee-gate" would resolve itself quietly but given recent events, it would seem that the jury is still out in that regard. Given, the scandal that the NBA had with an official, the men who wear the stripes in the NHL should be very careful- Lord know that they are not going to get any helpful or meaningful counsel from Mr. Campbell & his minions in Toronto....... Agreed. And since Mssr. Burrows is a Quebecer, he should get a pass as well- at least for tonight......... "Gardez la Foi! Keep the Faith!"

Management is a much better model than the coaching staff. Competent Francophones and Anglophones- Bergevin, Carriere, Dudley, Timmins. Does anyone really think that the Habs are better off with JJD than with Larry Robinson? Of course French Canadian Culture is and always should be an essential element in the make up of the Montreal Canadiens, but not to the exclusion of any and everyone else, especially those who would clearly make the franchise better like Robinson for instance. I live in New England and follow the Patriots closely. I have no doubt that Bill Belichick cares about and probably loves his players, but make no mistake, it's tough love and if you miss or are even late for a practice for instance, there are no warnings only consequences as in not playing..... @Hobie At this point Therrien probably must adjust his utilization of DD if he is going to win. I do not hate the guy and quite frankly think that this team could benefit from a little bit more of the old Michel Therrien as lately they have at times looked soft and apathetic. There are times when stronger admonishment is not only appropriate but necessary. It might be 2014, but the coach's job is not to be the player's friend or their father. Babcock isn't. Darryl Sutter isn't and in football Belichik isn't....... "Gardez la Foi! Keep the Faith!"

Just my two cents, but I think that when Eller returns, he becomes the second line center. Pleks and DD are both IMO better suited to 3rd line roles at this point and Pleks is a better all around centremen, so I guess that means that DD plays wing or..... "Gardez la Foi! Keep the Faith!"

I think that while MT might appear to be loyal to DD, his first loyalty is to himself and doing what he needs to survive- as in winning. This is not a bad thing especially if it results in a willingness to try different combinations that might produce different results. We all remember that he did not seem to like Danny Briere, and yet come playoff time he utilized him wisely and the result was Briere making some game deciding plays against Tampa and Boston. I suspect that at this point the ole fox knows that he needs to make some changes. Last night's line juggling was hopefully a preview of coming attractions. I think the time is ripe and it could be pretty exciting. We do need to be patient, but the roller coaster ride might get quite a bit more entertaining at least- pretty soon............. With regard to the moderators cracking down as it were, I did have one post disappear because apparently the phrase "effing bull" followed by the 4 letter word that is used as a substitute for faeces was found to be objectionable. The context was the high sticking call on P K that some of us found objectionable. And while I know it wound up being a double minor because apparently there was blood, there have been plenty of players in the past who have been able to effect some minor hemorrhaging on their own in order to draw a double minor or even a major. It looked to me like Kane might have embellished on the play and certainly if he produced blood to get the call he definitely embellished. If a Hab had been involved in that play on the receiving end, there would have been all kinds of talk about embellishment today I dare say....... "Gardez la Foi! Keep the Faith!"
