Poor play calling by the Als. I don't think Dinwiddie is the man for that job. No creativity. To you from failing hands we throw the torch, be yours to hold it high.

Robin Williams died today, self inflicted. So sad. Another great comedian gone. To you from failing hands we throw the torch, be yours to hold it high.

The problem as I see it with the NHL, the players yes will get their share, but the winning aspect is not the main focal for them or the team, especially for teams like the Habs. The League as I see it set up so that everyone gets a very good piece of the pie. Even when a team sucks like Phoenix did for awhile, the other 29 teams covered their costs. Bettman, is not about putting a winning product on the ice as it is so much as trying to put teams in areas where hockey never existed, take a $300m + get the other teams more money so that even if they don't win then they still have a healthy bottom line. Teams like the Islanders are not losing money like they say they are. They want the city to pay for them and pretty much cover all their costs. Give them a new building for free, no taxes to pay, give them pretty much all concessions. I can't see how they are losing money. They are getting enough money from the TV deals and concessions that they pretty much break even. If they make the playoffs they will get 100 % of all moneys without have to pay anyone for it. After saying all this, Montreal doesn't need PK to continue making money. I don't care about MB or Geoff Molson saying they want to win, because all this is mouth speech, give the people what they want to hear. Montreal is living off the past " tradition, history and the glory" This means sh!t. The Habs haven't won a championship since 93. That is 21 years for a team with so much tradition , history and glory. With the way they handle their star players it will be another 21 years. The Habs don't care because they have a gold mine and know it. Years ago when Harold Ballard owned the Leafs, he wouldn't let Russians or any European players on the Leafs other than Salming and Hammerstrom. Ballard said why should I spend the extra money to bring these players in. At the end of the day he knew where his bottom line was and that if he spent extra money to bring in these players that affected his profit margin. He didn't pay the extra money and the Leaf fans kept right on supporting the team just like Habs fans are doing right up to present day. Ballard was the smart one in the end, because he go a bigger profit and never won a championship, but he didn't care. Montreal Canadiens are the jewel in the crown for the city of Montreal, but if they are going to let people like PK walk because they don't want to pay them what will that tell the other players who Montreal are trying to draw to the team. For years and still is Montreal has always had to overpay because of the taxes in both Canada and Quebec and because cities like Florida has no taxes or very little. If Montreal, doesn't pay PK, then what happens to players like Price when his contract is up, what about the Galchenyks, Beaulieu, Tinordi do we treat these players the same way. I know we don't know all the details of what went down between Meehan and MB. At the end of the day there had to be some happy median to get a deal done. MB wanted PK to do a bridge which PK did. What return did MB give back to PK for doing that bridge, as it looks right now he did squat. You can't expect to ask a player to help you out the first time like MB did without having to give back the second time round. Right now we have a Montreal Alouette team that sucks so bad, a CIS team could beat them. We had a Montreal Expos team that should never have been lost, but was due to poor management. Now we have the Montreal Canadiens which is the complete opposite of the Expos in that they are managed and marketed to the hilt. To a point where they are a money tree. The winning is not imperative and neither is the star player. Funny thing is we never have a Quebec born player wanting to come back and play here in his prime. He will once his career is over and he is desperate to stay in the League then he will say it was always a dream to play for the team he grew up idolizing. Briere is a prime example of that. The Habs need to have a good defenseman replace Brisebois. His replacement should also be someone who played a smart game. I would like to see the Habs target people like an Adam Foote, Craig Rivet, Ray Bourque, or even a Craig Ludwig. To you from failing hands we throw the torch, be yours to hold it high.
