Don't know if this has been posted, but seems like Geoffrion is retiring. http://blogs.thescore.com/nhl/2013/03/13/the-quiet-room-blake-geoffrion/

Great post Ferg.

That you're even talking about the fact that he could have had playoff success BEFORE the age of 22-23 is an acknowledgement that he's in elite company. Most players (and even more so with goalies) do NOTHING by 23, 24, let alone are they called upon to be responsible for a team's playoff success. The fact of the matter is that Price has incredible skill, technique, and over the past years, consistency (how many times has he been pulled this year? 0. 4 shutouts and 20th place stats on a 28th place team? Good year. He is not YET a great goalie, but to deny that everything is pointing towards him becoming one is dishonest. He will probably be great. If you were to build a franchise around a goalie in the NHL, he is the number 1 option in terms of current skill, youth, and upside. Also, how can you just write off his junior success? No goalie has had a more successful junior career. Ever. Wikipedia it, no goalie has one more awards before reaching bro. It's astounding that you manage to doubt this young goalie in spite of all of this.

So you prefer the Habs over hockey? I think that the attitude that you're expressing is exactly what owners want fans to be tricked into thinking. Every team is the same, just different brands and colours. My as well say that only Coke is the real cola, and that Pepsi doesn't exist

How are we complaining about Price? Are you people serious? We get shutout, we don't score on any of those powerplays, and we are down on the goalie that is very understandably starting to have bad games past the halfway point in the season in which he's been one of the only bright spots? Come on guys, the ONE thing the habs have is the stud goalie of the future, and you bitch about him in a game that his team wouldn't have one if he posted a shutout. Pathetic.

In my mind Kopitar was the only other option from that draft that could contend as a worthy alternative to Price. So your criticism of Gainey consists of "you drafted a franchise goalie? not good enough, you used too high of a pick to do so". I think you're moving the target around (as if he drafted Kopitar and not Price, we'd be complaining about our lack of a franchise goalie, and wondering why we didn't nab the one that went one pick behind us (as surely Minny picks him up instead of Pouliot if they can)). If Price is in fact a franchise goalie (and I think that anyone in the league will agree that he is) and Kopitar is a franchise center, how do you tell which one is worth more with at 5th overall pick? If you are clever enough to figure that out, good for you, but to say that anyone who has a hard time with that choice is "D-U-M-B dumb - just stupid" is pretty ridiculous.
