its not about me being disappointed or you...its about winning cups and we will not win one in the next 2-4 yrs with all the vets we now have...to not move them and lose the value they have now, is just ridiculous.

also, if you could redo 2011, and have a good year, would you do it and lose the right to draft galchenyuk? my point is, sometimes having a really crappy season is a benefit..see Colorado...they are a much better example of it so far than say Edmonton....so is Chicago a better example.

we disagree. pleks in a package can bring us back a very solid prospect, young player or very high draft...losing him for sure insures that we are not as good for a year or 2, which pretty much ensures us getting better drafting position IN EACH ROUND...keeping him at his age, with where we are at, at his salary, makes no sense given that we will not in a cup with him in the next 2-4 yrs....but that is not just pleks in a vaccum that is this strategy...it encompasses pleks, gio, moen, bouillon, briere, and maybe even markov...you make a fine point about markov ....so while I like him and like how he's playing, he may be worth moving at the deadline too.... or do you think we are a cup contender in that time frame?

he also seems to be using a much lighter touch to get the puck on net from the blueline...no big windups... just getting them through...which is good some of the time, but he does seem to be holding back from using the cannon....

its all good in the regular season until the going starts to get really tough in the playoffs. different hockey altogether...I like winning as much as anyone, what I don't like is this false sense of hope that if we just make the playoffs, anything can happen. This team looks good now and will benefit from the soon to be returning injured, but it is not a playoff team and will be another 1 or 2 and out. I think this deadline is the time to re-tool this team seeing as we are moving in the right direction and where with a few key moves, can be in a real position to win a cup in 3-4 yrs time. Trade off the vets. Do it this year. Bourque looks good now...perfect time to trade him..same for pleks, same for gio. Moen can go too. same for bouillon, same for briere. Murray can stay for a year or 2 as we desperately need his size...and markov, well, he's risky, but he's playing very well so I would try to negotiate the best deal possible with him for another 2 yrs. Many here misconstrue my wanting to trade pleks...I like him, I see his value...that is why he ought to be traded now, before he is all of a sudden 34-35 and we have not won a cup and he is without value. WE ARE NOT WINNING WITH HIM NOW OR FOR THE NEXT FEW YRS...so why not trade him now, get significant value back and build for the next era...he is 31 now and makes 5 million! between pleks, gio, moen, bouillon, briere, bourque, there is about 20 million. I think its time to accumulate prospects and draft picks, and save money and use it wisely over the next several yrs. I don't mind finishing lower if we can grab guys like galchenyuk, or would people here like to have a redo on 2011 where we have a good regular season and we don't get to draft galchenyuk?

Actually, he played a decent game, 9 faceoffs won, 6 lost....had some chances, created some chances, and generally did nothing to hurt the team at all...even in a win you have to blame him for something huh? gotta love habs anglo fans....and before you shoot your mouth off, im an anglo and I find the incessant negative treatment of DD embarrassing.
