  Detroit had superior European scouting ten to fifteen years ago and came up with the gems other teams didn't know about.  Since they drafted their core, they've been trading picks away in deals for rentals and support players to keep them competitive.  They'll be paying the price for that when the inhuman Lidstrom retires and Zetterberg, Holmstrom and Datsyuk get older.

  The first thing fans have to figure out when they buy a ticket is that in sports anything can happen.  If they think their particular hundred bucks is going to ensure the team wins, they're idiots.  If they buy that ticket they have to understand the team could lose or a player could suck.  It's like buying a lottery ticket.  Sometimes you win sometimes you lose but you have to know going in that anything can happen.  Booing because the team doesn't do what you expected on the night you paid your money is ridiculous.  If you want perfection save your money and stay home.  Everyone is better off then.  The players don't listen to you being an idiot and you don't feel so ripped off after parting with your hard earned money to see a loss or bad performance.  People don't boo the lotto girl when the machine doesn't turn up their numbers.  Same thing buying a hockey ticket.
