The one thing that glares out at me is that Gionta is holding this team back. With him on the 2nd line the habs essentially have one scoring line, 1 shut down line, and 2 checking lines who don't do much checking. If Therrien wasn't so darn stubborn he would play plecks and vanek with either briere or galchenyuk and put gionta with eller and either briere or galchenyuk. Right there you have 2 legitimate scoring lines. with the 3rd line as your shut down line who btw could produce some goals and a 4th line with interchangeable players with white, moen ,prust, borque, bournival, and weise. P.S. The habs are gonna be busy on draft day by the looks of it. Stop blaming the goaltender! He can only do so much.

Is Tinoridi really playing with subban or are you guys just suggesting it?

That's why I don't watch the trade and free agent frenzy on tsn no more. It pointless to watch when all your gonna hear from John Lu is "Marc Bergiven seem set with players he has right now" Stop blaming the goaltender! He can only do so much.

Guys this is NO set up trade. In all likely hood Tinoridi gets sent down and Weaver takes his place. THAT"S IT! Hasn't anybody on this site learned by now they won't give up anybody young on this team and nobody want guys like Gionta for a playoff push because they are no good to begin with. Stop blaming the goaltender! He can only do so much.

If the Habs were to deal the likes of Gionta, Moen, etc. it would come at the right time because most of the buyers are coming out of the west and the Habs are on their final western road trip. Doubt anything happens but who knows. P.S. If they do trade anybody with the exception of Markov, they will get next to nothing in return which I don't mind because that just means the young guys like Bournival finally get a chance as well as Briere would benefit too. If MT wasn't so stubborn he would have Briere with Plecks and Galchenyuk like he does on the PP which is a pretty good offensive line if you ask me. There is no reason why Gionta couldn't be on the 3rd line. He would be playing the same style of play and wouldn't hinder the Habs scoring as he is doing right now with only one legitimate scoring line and essentially 3 shut-down lines that score sparingly to none at all. Stop blaming the goaltender! He can only do so much.

So if Drewiski does clear waivers and goes to Hamilton, will the Habs call up beaulieu for road trip

Besides for that 5 game stretch where they gave up 4 or more goals per game, the Habs are a team defensively that can go far in the playoffs but won't go no where due to lack of scoring. They are one 80-90 point a year guy away from being a real contender. Hate to say this but maybe they should take a page out of the Leafs book and trade a Nathan Beaulieu and or Jarad Tinoridi for a guy like phil kessel etc. Trading Luke Schenn for Van Reimsdke was a really good move as Schenn has not been that great D-man everyone thought he'd be. - Comment on AUDIO: Habs trade Diaz to Canucks for Weise (2014-02-03 18:00:49)
I don't get why people are complaining about Diaz being traded. He sucked and always will suck. I could care a less who they got from him. Same goes for players like Gionta, DD, Briere etc. They are not part of the future or at least they shouldn't be and I couldn't give a darn who the Habs get from them as long as their gone I'm happy. Stop blaming the goaltender! He can only do so much.

They are not gonna trade him before trade deadline. If they can't sign him to a 1-2 year deal they will either trade him at draft or let him go via UFA. In a perfect world I would love to see him in 3rd pair unit with Beauilieu next year just like Franky B did last year with him and Tinoridi. He would teach Beauilieu a lot and save on his stamina for an entire season plus he will still be 1st powerplay unit too. Stop blaming the goaltender! He can only do so much.
