So does anyone think MT will really go with three goaltenders to start the season?
- Comment on Habs will go with four alternate captains this season (2014-09-15 21:26:15)
I seriously don't think MB, GM or MT read this blog and if any of them did do they give a rat's behind what any of us think? let's just get the season underway and I'll wait for some of you to dis me yet again.
- Comment on Martin Brodeur could be a good fit with Habs: Damphousse (2014-09-09 15:48:47)
Budaj is a great team guy and a very reliable back up. I don't think they lost faith in him at all. They tried a new angle by putting Tokarski in during the playoffs kind of like starting Dryden way back when. If anything, I think that Tokarski is great trade bait when the Habs are in need of something to fill a void close to the trade deadline or if a deal comes along that is too hard to pass up. Brodeur may well be capable of filling the back up role with this team but only for 15 games or so. I say keep Budaj, make Tokarski the number one in Hamilton, bring him up a bit and let the season roll on.
- Comment on Cournoyer speaks about vacant Habs captaincy (2014-08-26 18:26:04)
You nailed it Paz. Playoffs often bring out the best in players and Bourque`s production certainly showed that. He is a deceptive player but really showed what he is capable of. MT has other challenges as well not the least of which is how he uses Suban. In the latter part of the season and in the playoffs he upped PK`s defensive role and I for one believe that PK will turn into a great shut down guy given the opportunity.

Off topic but having just come back from a vacation (I left the digital world behind) I feel compelled to comment on the Suban signing. I must say I feel vindicated in that the management of our Habs agreed with me that PK is a vital piece of this team moving forward and in making him the highest paid d-man in the league and the highest paid player in team history they recognize him as one of those special franchise players. I look forward to PK improving even more as he matures both as an athlete and as a person. I do predict that after next season Price's contract will be re-worked to reflect his increased value to the team in light of recent goaltender signings around the year.

He is faster than Crosby, watch how he strides, and his acceleration is unmatched. Crosby is much better at protecting the puck because he is built a lot like Bobby Hull - a big rear end and not too rangy and as a forward, it is all about puck control. Suban is the most mobile defense man in the game today. We all have our opinions and I have stated mine.

I have always enjoyed this time of the hockey season when all the fans speculate about what player would fit in what role and all the related trade talk. However let's get one thing straight. This franchise has the chance to set themselves up with a genuine franchise player in PK Suban. He is the real deal. He is one of the best skaters to come along in a very long time. He is faster, smoother and has better acceleration than Coffey, or Orr, or Crosby, or anyone else in the post expansion (television) era. His point shot is devastating, his release is quick, he can shoot from either side and he will only get better at it. He can hit and isn't afraid of anyone. He demonstrated this playoff year his ability and desire to lead by example. One of his best assets is the fact other teams and their fans hate him. Price was locked up long term and has established himself as one of the best a franchise netminder. MB needs to settle very soon with a multi-year deal in the 8-9 million region if he doesn't we will lose a very rare opportunity indeed.
- Comment on HI/O Show: Habs will face more pressure next season (2014-06-08 20:11:40)
Nice synopsis but I disagree in your comparison of Suban and Doughty. Suban is much more mobile, is quicker, hits better and that shot well there is no comparison. Doughty is very skilled, is bigger and plays is a city where the scrutiny is not that significant. I have paid a lot of attention to Doughty this playoff and feel his lack of mobility and by that I mean his ability to execute sharp turns and accelerate are his weak points. Still he would look awfully good with a CH on his chest.

Not to worry Timo, things have a way of working out. Kreider will get his own back. I just wish that an errant puck finds Healey's face in this series to shut him the ^%#@ up.
