Dear Mike, I know that everyone wants to see the Canadiens make the playoffs this year. But, realistically, this is not a team that can compete with the Cup contenders, so the main purpose of this year ought to be development, to see what the young players can do. If winning is a higher priority, a la Jacques Martin, we will never find out what some of the young players can do. They should play every game, and, where possible, with the same linemates. It would be such a pity if the Habs once again wind up releasing or trading away players without first finding out how good they are.
