I agree - jumps was the key word in the rule and I never try to glean intent because that's too gray of an area to define "If I knew the answer to that I'd bet $10,000 on the game and retire from coaching." —Montreal Canadiens coach Toe Blake after being asked if his team would win an upcoming game

The only issue as I watched the reply frame by frame was the fact that Orpik jumped up off the ice and then his full weight bared down on Toews...it would've have been clean if he kept his skates on the ice..he's a good 3" off the ice before the hit and 5" during the hit...that's the only thing I saw... Here is how it applies - note the word "jump" 42.1 Charging - A minor or major penalty shall be imposed on a player who skates or jumps into, or charges an opponent in any manner. Charging shall mean the actions of a player who, as a result of distance traveled, shall violently check an opponent in any manner. A “charge” may be the result of a check into the boards, into the goal frame or in open ice. ...just wanted to add after watching TSN and seeing Babcocks response to "...what about the non-offside call"...I thought his comment was excellent "..every team makes their own breaks..." Anyways, that was the highlight of the highlights as far as I was concerned.. This site's name should be changed to Damned if you do and Damned if you don't - because this is one hell of a rollercoaster of comments (good and bad). LA Kings had Doughty, Carter, Quick and all their top tier players. Mtl doesn't have the same depth not by a long shot - but they outhit the former champs and kept the game respectable. From what I could see on the highlights all Mtl had to do was hit the same gear they had in the final minutes - because the Kings were on the ropes then (just imagine 60 mins of the same effort...). They played tough and learned that the LA Kings are beatable...
