It's a double-edged sword. If I was Claude Giroux, I'd notice that my GM has a history of offering sheets to other teams. Then when his contract expires at the end of the season, he sits and waits for a big payday via a sheet. It'll be open season on the Flyers, particularly Giroux. Can anyone NOT imagine him getting a Weber/Parise/Sutter-esque offer sheet next year if he hasn't signed an extension? - Comment on Predators match Flyers' offer for Weber
As per #3: As with news reports, it's usually the first, vague report that gets widely disseminated. Even if Nagy was the one who said the remark, the fact that original news stories ran that Doan was the perpetrator has done the damage. Redactions and corrections don't work - they're usually buried in small print in obscure places. How many rabid language-centric Francophones really know that Nagy was the one who made the remark?
