- Comment on Habs deal Cole to Stars for Ryder (2013-02-26 20:02:38)
Did Cole undermine Gionta at all as captain? I ask this seriously. We heard about Cole texting everyone after the Toronto loss and rallying the troops. We heard of him giving Louie Leblanc his Visa to fly his parents out for the Anaheim game last year. We heard of a few more things Cole did that were moves made by a Captain. Cole was a natural leader and maybe he was stepping on Gio's toes a bit???...I don't know.....but Gio has been terrible this year....maybe this move makes it more "his" team now to Captain. After last night's shootout debocle, I certainly hope Gio is up to the task of leading this group if he is not contributing on the ice. Maybe it was a small factor, maybe it wasn't. I will miss Cole, but not terribly....we gain a much need right hand shot who can score and work hard......
- Comment on Gorges, Darche elaborate on latest in labour stalemate (2012-09-10 21:57:13)
This according to CBS sports fantasy hockey website. Take it for what is worth as the site is usually garbage for information for hockey. P.K. Subban, D MON News: P.K. Subban is close to agreeing to a three-year, $12 million deal with the Canadiens, sportsnet.ca reports. Analysis: The deal is in the final stages of being completed as the Canadiens work to lock up the 23-year-old defenseman before the old collective bargaining agreement expires Sept. 15. It was suggested earlier that P.K. Subban was pursuing a five-year deal, but it appears he may have changed his stance. He has recorded 76 points in his two full seasons with the team
- Comment on Robinson on Habs radar; Engqvist to KHL (2012-06-27 11:37:35)
First post ever. Read here everyday. But I have a question that needs answering. 1. Is there a rule somewhere where it states you cannot be more than 10% over the salary cap in the offseason when making transactions? 2. If so, is it possible that MB is telling the agents of both Price and Subban that it is in the teams best interest to not sign these guys until August or September. They could work out a deal now but not have it signed until just before camp is about to start? 3. Does doing this make sense?...they have the Gomez contract to deal with, but if the Habs are at all thinking about adding a high profile player through either FA or trade, and if they sign Price and Subban now plus Gomez's bloated contract, they may not have the room to do such a move. Of course if there is no such rule it is a moot point, but wondering if anyone knows this and if my theory could be a possibility. Because as each passing day goes by and Price and Subban aren't signed, I know the bedlam it will cause in here...haha... Cheers guys, always great reading and hope to post every so often now...
