Sven's giveaway on that goal was terrible. Price's play was somehow even worse. Just ugly all around. Go Habs Go! http://lastwordonsports.com/

He takes some minutes and some key faceoffs, and it helps... but the 100% of Pleks defensive responsibility would never happen. Go Habs Go! http://lastwordonsports.com/

Kovalchuk will be paid, even if no other players are being paid, he will keep getting his cheques. They won't lose their marquee player. I think Radulov is probably their number 2 guy. If you want to raid the KHL cause their players aren't getting paid, go for the young kids with potential, those are the ones who will jump at getting paid. Also go for the strong two way players who don't have the flash that sells tickets. A guy like Sobotka (#3 on the list) would be absolutely perfect for the Habs. He can play physical, he's outstanding defensively, and he'd fit in perfectly on Plekanec's RW in a shut down/two-way role. Go Habs Go! http://lastwordonsports.com/

The other team's number 1 centre is gonna play 20 minutes a night. Malholtra is gonna play 10-12..... Unless you want to see Malhotra an extra 8-10 minutes a night, you still need plekanec. Go Habs Go! http://lastwordonsports.com/

Sven's offensive production is making him the biggest internet hero ever. Here's the thing.... in 4 games, he has a grand total of 4 shots on goal. Yes he had 2 goals, but this is the ultimate in high production in a small sample size, and unsustainable production. He's not going to keep scoring on 50% of his shots. He's also not generating a lot of shots for linemates by making plays basically only having that one pass in the vancouver game. Bottom line, don't get fooled by the fact a couple shots go in the back of the net, if you aren't creating scoring chances, you arent going to keep scoring points. On top of that, he is a defensive liability, and playing on Pleks line (as Pleks goes up against the other team's top line game in, game out) is not the place to put a defensive liability. I like Sven, but he's 21... and he's not NHL ready. He's got a lot still to learn in Hamilton. If he's not getting a big role with us right now, I completely understand why. And I'm one of the first to say that we've held guys like Tinordi, Beaulieu, Sekac, and Galchenyuk back from bigger roles when they are/were ready, but I see some big signs in Sven that he's not. I really like the idea of DD on the wing. I've been saying for a while that he should go there. He has less responsibility to contain big forwards in the cycle game or help out against them down low in the defensive zone, something he doesn't do well. Instead he can play more high and look to intercept passes and play more of a coverage role with positioning instead of strength. This is something he does well. In the offensive zone, digging loose pucks out of the corner is actually something he does pretty decently due to quick hands and leverage. I think he'll actually excel here, and I think that if Lars can establish a presence in the middle, he might be able to get a few goals out of it. Seems to me that most of the really small players (5'9 and under) who come up at centre end up getting moved to the wing once in the league (Fleury, St. Louis, Cammalleri, Gerbe, Ennis, etc....) plus then you have Gionta and Gallagher who were already on the wing.
