Nice post! Brought back my childhood(with wrestling) and my adulthood(with games like tonight's). (I don't even know why they even let that evil Abdullah the Butcher wrestle.) And there is something about the fighting and dirty stuff, the injustice of it, when the injustices are condoned, that infantilizes us 'adults' as much as wrestling used to when we were kids. I find it a little embarrassing.

Someone upstairs has a mixed up philosophy about hockey. Or is it the press or the fans? Do they keep wanting them to be 50's style apple pie lovin' baseball players. Give me players with skill and also imagination and, yes, artistic temperaments. Give me the Andrei Kostitsins and the Robeiros and give me the strength to overlook their youthful impetuousness. Take a look around the league tonight. The Kostitsins got 3 points. (Andrei 4 or 5 points in 3 or 4 games so far) Poulin on Boston got 2 points. Robeiro 3 points. Robidas 2 points. Grabovski a goal. Halak 1 GA on 19 shots. Higgins 2 points. Ryder 2 points. Starting to see a pattern? Not bad for a Tuesday night. And there were probably a few more. When they traded Sergei I thought, not again. Grabovski, I thought the same thing. The kid played like 5 games and had flashes of brilliance. And now Andrei, when he was clearly being misplayed. Over and over and over. No one learns anything from whatever they're doing. I daresay Lafleur would have been traded in his first season for smoking between periods. And a rookie Rocket would have been traded to Phoenix for going to practice with a hangover. Those who want lunchbox carrying plumbers go watch the Bruins and the Flyers. I want artists. I want Flying Frenchmen and dazzling stick handling virtuosos and quick wrist shots. I would almost say now that if a player comes to Montreal with stick handling ability and great skating skills he might last a couple of years in this town. Whereas Darche will outlast them all, God bless him.
