As an aside, are these Cricket world cups fixed or do the host countries really get up for them. Good for the boys and fans down under.

I think so! What's with the denial? It's not an affront on PK, it's just fact he's to blame on this one. Why was that necessary? All game he played responsibly and then wants to be hero. Yea, grow up already is right.

No, it was "take a lead and sit on it". If that's not Therrien written all over it, then he doesn't know what to do behind the bench to change the players' creation of it themselves. I've really, really tried to like this coach and he obviously does have certain skills to have us at the top of the standings, I'll grant him that, but the lack of success on the PP, the sluggish first periods, the obvious bias toward DD, his lack of engagement with players behind the bench, (how often do you see him pumping them up or instructing them) are his flaws, and if the goal is the Cup, like mine, then I'm afraid it isn't Therrien who's getting us there.

They do know, right? They know we fans are up way past midnight, full of excitement to start the game, knowing we likely have to be up pretty early for work that pays us a fraction of what the players make, yet we do it. Wouldn't it be nice if Max, or Carey, or PK, or Tomas, or Andrei said "sorry" to the fans for their display last night, explain why and move on? God knows they've given us more than we could ask for this season with their wins and standings, but an apology would make this fan feel so much better, just the recognition would console these hurt and tired eyes this morning.

Eller's been a favourite in our household, pictures on the walls and door of my daughter's bedroom. As time has gone on, it's become apparent to me that something off the ice is an issue for Lars. Don't know what it is, can't even say it is for sure, but my intuition says yes. He is not playing with the same mental awareness as he did what, maybe 2 years ago? Could it be marriage at such a young age? Or a child? It's something, he looks lost out there, poor judgement, lost creativity he once seem to have. I too Hobie, am fearful he's going to be the one gone at the trade deadline and wish it wasn't so, but only if the other Lars came back. If not, he's been a little too frustrating to watch and wouldn't mind seeing him go.

Disappointed to read this CJ, I'm a rare poster, but regular reader and almost always seemed to acknowledge your thoughts and insights. Best of luck wherever life leads.

Seriously, like he said "clean the glasses", that's not the reason we lost Max, we just didn't bring it tonight and the worrisome part is we keep making excuses and justifying the poor losses. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with the season, thus far, it's these type of games that they can also play come playoff time that is concerning, but I'll worry about that later, lol.

Go through life without expectations? Hmmm, wonder how that would work out. You surely must be only referring to hockey here?

Don't know if I can agree with that. Fora while now, this team has come to play with a sub-standard compete level and attention to detail, the Chicago game an exception. MT is reaching his shelf-life expiry date. Yes, he did some good things taking over the mess he inherited, but the next levels are beyond his skill set. As to the players, I've always maintained we have the talent, it just seems that MT and his coaching staff can't seem to devise a system that incorporates that talent wisely. Time to move on IMHO.
