Too bad there isn't a geographical bottleneck and cliffs on the Sens side of the ice.... - Comment on Liveblog: Game 4 – Canadiens blow 2-0 lead, lose in OT
If we, the commentariat are frustrated by this garbage reefing, imagine how the players feel. This is how people get hurt. There are rules for a reason a-hole refs. Call the game!! - Comment on Liveblog: Game 4 – Canadiens blow 2-0 lead, lose in OT
Hey Guys, Been a follower for several years now. I dig on your guys opinions most of the time. A thought on the old "ultra-violence" in the playoffs. I have already lost my taste for “playoff hockey” this year. Mostly, in my opinion, due to the lack of calls by NHL refs which lead to the brutality we have seen on the ice in several series, most notably Montreal/Ottawa. With a few calls, that would have been made in the regular season, the refs could have kept the games under control, and a great young player like Lars Eller would be playing hockey. Instead we get to watch the incredible talents of a third string D-man, Eric Gryba. Which would you prefer? Same goes for game 3. Don’t you think the ref’s could have had that game under control if they had only called the penalties in the first period such as the cross check to the head of Subban, or goalie slew foot on Montreal’s side and several infractions against the Ottawa side. But instead it was too little, too late and incredibly inconsistent. It seems to me if the players see that the refs are “letting them play” (stupid euphemism) then you get hits like the one Gryba laid on Eller. If he know he would be penalized, don’t you think he may have thought twice about that hit? Why can’t the players play “intense” hockey while keeping it clean? Why must intensity come with brutality? After the last two years of vicious hits and the incompetent “player safety department, why would I put my child in hockey, let alone let him watch the games with me before he turns 18? He can’t watch violent movies until then according to “society”. A small child does not need to see the kind of violence we see in the game today. The NHL and it’s lax rules are destroying the game in Canada, just check the stats on kids in soccer vs. hockey these days. Hockey is an expensive game played by children with family money. They are also well educated in most cases. Why would an informed [parent let their children join in the headshot free for all that is the NHL? Let the fight “fans” go to the UFC with the other Neanderthals where they belong. - Comment on Happy holidays as Habs post fantasy win over Leafs
Thanks for the fantasy games, Hickey. This is how I play NHL games on Xbox! Just GM the team and let the computer do the playing. No human interference. It can be fun and no one is making obscene amounts of money on our backs. So chill out all of you who are too good for this. Maybe you can comment on other threads if this is so abhorrent to you. By the way, is anyone keeping the stats for the fantasy season? :-) - Comment on Labour board hearing postponed as talks continue
VJ! Don't do it man! We gotta show these people who's really the boss! I am not buying anything NHL related for one year, and more if this goes further, due to the stupidity you mention above! And I have two favourite teams (and two dogs), so I like gear, too! :-) - Comment on Fantasy Habs blanket Ovi
Is anyone keeping fantasy season stats?! May as well go all in!
