I have read your posts for some time now. All I can say: I am so very glad that you will never be the GM of the Montreal Canadiens.

They practiced. You would have to check John Lu's twitter for any evidence of it though. Boullion took a therapy day.

The comedy of you telling me to go somewhere else if I find this place unsatisfactory, and then having an error as you try to post a comment is not lost on me. I've been here for a long time. I am just lamenting that the gazette seems to have scaled back the resources that they are willing to contribute to this site. It really could be something special. Now, more or less, twitter has displaced this place for the day to day news.

How is it that there isn't even an update from practice today? I really can't get over just how bad this site has become. It is no longer a one stop shop for habs news.

Am I the only one who thinks the quality for this website has gone down tremendously over time? We barely get updates or any particular analysis or any small leaks like we used to 3 years or so ago. I enjoy it here, I enjoy the conversation, and I am not saying its bad, but certainly this website used to be more lively with updates. instead, I find myself following three separate journalists on twitter to find out what's going on.

I can't come to terms with taking Grigorkenko. Between the Leblanc, Eller, DD and Pleks - adding another Centremen would create a logjam down the middle. Unless we are saying that Grigorkenco replaces Eller - and we trade Eller for what? And then what about Leblanc? I'm just now sure the logjam is worth it. In my mind, Murray would be ideal. Yes, I know - another D man. But he's as close to "a sure thing" as we'll get without Yakupov. He will take time to develop, but the Habs will have an AMAZING D down the road, or alternaitvely, stellar trade bait. Good puck moving and stay at home D are worth a tremendous amount. Anyways - would love to hear your thoughts generally - especially about the logjam at centre thing and how to navigate that. Maybe I'm missing something?

I think the underlying assumption here is that these players "Don't have integrity" and weren't trying. That's not true. Say what you will about Scott Gomez and the depreciation of his skills, it's really making a leap to say he isn't trying at all or has no integrity. Same with Kaberle. Sending players down more readily will have at least one detrimental effect: It will make all players, (those on the team and those who are considering coming to montreal) more hesitant to come to montreal, realizing that they are one or two bad seasons away from being put in the minors if they are locked into a contract. This will also make them less likely to sign a contract with montreal, and more likely to sign big dollar deals elsewhere. Montreal already has enough problems attracting players. Now let's not take this to an extreme - I am not saying not to send anybody down ever. I'm not saying not to send gomez down. I'm saying that sending all three down, or even two of the three, would not send the "we're only looking for players with integrity" signal to the rest of the NHL and could have detrimental consequences for the habs. At any rate, should be interesting to see if there is an amnesty period with the new CBA.

Another critique - the 16th place team is not necessarily making the playoffs - or to put it another way - the 18th place team could make the playoffs. For instance, if the 8th-10th place western conference teams may have a higher point total that the 7th or 8th place eastern conference teams. But your use of the 16h place team as a general gauge is fair enough. Good read - thanks!
