  • Comment on Multimedia: White, Schultz game-time decisions vs. Hurricanes
Should be a good game tonight! Enjoying the win streak, hoping for the playoffs, but if we don't make it, dump some dead weight (Gill, Campoli, Gomer) in the offseason and go younger. Any first rounder will do, not a big fan of this year's crop. As for the upcoming Bruins game, I think you guys should youtube Schultz before counting him out against anyone. He was one of the toughest guys in the WHL and I haven't seen him drop too many decisions in the AHL either. He has a great style of game, and although he's been slow to adjust to the pro game, he grinds hard and forechecks, not super talented but tough and gritty, and was the captain of the Hitmen for several seasons for a reason(and was decent offensively). People are saying he's not an NHL player, how many so called experts thought that White would be an NHL player, or Gorges, or Desharnais, or anybody who wasn't a first rounder? Before you all crap on his WHL toughness, remember thats where Lucy and Chara polished their craft as well, and they lost their share of fights there too. He at least won't back down from anyone, he'll for sure answer the bell, and while i'm not saying he'll mop the floor with Lucic or Thornton, but I gaurantee he won't do too badly either. Have some faith boys. We're not going to win by gooning, but we also don't have to sit back and take it from these guys either. Lets go out and beat the Canes then you can all work yourselves into a Lucic lather over how bad he'll beat up Schultz....just remember you may eat some humble pie after. Schultz is a very similar fighter and size to Jim Vandermeer, and he gave Lucic all he could handle last year while with the Oilers. Let's give this kid a few games and see what he can do! He's young and malleable and with some seasoning, could be a diamond in the rough. If he develops into a good third or fourth liner like Thornton, then the Halak trade becomes better and better for us. Lets go habs!

i would bet by the end of the night he'll be with cammy and plecks, especially once AK takes the first few shifts off after a fast start to the game. Edit: oops wrong spot. Posted in reply to the comment from Juhn Lu about where cole is playing.

just breathe. you'll feel better after we squeek out a 1 goal 4-3 win over the leafs tonight. Betts is not historically injury prone. He will be fine. Gameday folks, it;s like chirstmas morning!

everyone knows his potential, and how his numbers appear on paper... however, it's the 16-20 game scoreless skids, the poor playoff performances and the lack of fire he shows that piss people off, not the fact that he's euro. Also, the Epilepsy thing has to be put to bed, he has not had issues since his draft year and has it under control. He doesn't use it as an excuse and niether should anyone else. EDIT: That being said, I would not trade him for just anyone. I believe in his talent and think he will break out one day, but i don't think it will be with the Habs. Malone or Clarkson, as suggested, would not be enough for me to part with a player of AK's potential. Might be hard to sell a GM on his potential in order to get the necessary value back on a deal for him, however. My perception is he is viewed as a floater of sorts around the league. My perception and opinion, of course.

he just never does it when it really counts and is so inconsistent it hurts to watch. But yes, the numbers are there, on paper. I have a hard time with him, cause i want to believe he can score 30+, but i just don't see the drive day to day.
