This is the type of GM we need, good read, http://sports.nationalpost.com/2011/10/21/excerpt-the-lives-of-conn-smythe/ Hockey, to Smythe was “total war,” and a good team required the same qualities that went into a sound fighting unit: strong leadership, teamwork, discipline, and a willingness to engage in hand-to-hand combat. “Nobody pops someone on this team without getting popped back,” he once declared. “I’m not interested in hockey players who don’t play to win. You can take penalties, but you gotta play to win.” He would preach that doctrine throughout his career. It was behind his preference for hard-working, self-effacing, team-oriented players over high-scoring, high-maintenance stars, whom he generally viewed as more trouble than they were worth. His best teams would consist of hard-nosed warriors, as skilled with their elbows as they were with the puck. A hockey team, he insisted, should attack on all fronts at all times. If a Toronto Maple Leaf happened to win a scoring title he could expect scant praise from Smythe, who like as not would use it as evidence he wasn’t spending enough time in the corners. - Comment on "The guiltiest weren't our inexperienced guys"
Thank you Ian, - Comment on "The guiltiest weren't our inexperienced guys"
Hey RJB STICK to CURLING, - J-Martin is the worst coach ever to coach the Habs, and PG is the absolute worst GM ever. This team will not fare well against teams that have grit, we have no balls, this will repeat over and over. There were 3 guys on RDS I would prefer coaching over this clown, Captain Bob what have you done to us. - Comment on Canadiens spoil Jets party
We are almost the Ottawa senators, we will be there by next year. Thanks to PG and JM - Comment on Canadiens spoil Jets party
You don't need to watch the game today, I will give you a preview of a Pierre G and Jacques M team. Jet's slap us around, just like your older brother and his pals used to do to you. They are a faster team and a much tougher that us. Hab players cry a bit, and ask the Jets not to play so rough. No one will protect Price, he eventually will get hurt. Then the fun starts with another great move by PG (Budaj) What would happen if Price missed 10 games. PG will blame the defense, and will go out and get another defense man for free, hope to replace that steal he got in Campoli. (who nobody else wanted) Wake up, G Molson, this is the NHL, PG and JM are past there due date. Lets get this team on the rails and get them out of here. They are turning us into the Ottawa Senators. Bob G. one of my all time favorite players, i will never forgive you for what you did to our team, and signed these to losers to run the habs. Did anyone notice, last game time out at the end, all 3 coaches were talking strategy to the players, all the players were looking at the clock. Kirk was the glue behind the bench, now we have 3 clones. no one is listening. - Comment on So what have we got?
John Ferguson's hockey career began as a stickboy for the Vancouver Canucks, then of the Western Hockey League. He became interested when he saw the Vancouver Canucks star player get hit and hit and hit, and not one of his teammates stood up for him, this is what made him aware of the importance of being an enforcer. All you experts, ask our small players if they like taking a beating every game. Losers all of you., starting from Mr. Molson down, for letting the GM take us down this road.
