Between ANA vs. DET... I 'm going for DET to win the series ... One draft position higher for the Habs and several draft picks lower for our future divisional rivals Who's with me?

Switched to the baseball game during the intermission. Jays have come back from bring 4 down... Don't know if they were any blown icings calls in the game, though.

It's nice seeing a GM watching the game with the same passion as a fan.

Agreed, Nash's injury came at a very bad time for him. Hopefully he makes a fully recovery as is able to contribute at the NHL level. Too many times has a promising player been injured at a critical point in his career. Who was the D in the 90s that was almost gauranteed a roster spot that got injured in preseason and never played with the Habs? I want to say Alain Cote but that doesn't seem right... anybody remember such a case? _______________________________ Opinions are like kittens, I'm giving them away.

Q1) YES - the Habs could benefit from having a good, physical, stay at home defenceman. Which team wouldn't? Getting one that fits that bill at $2-2.5M would be a treasure. Unfortunately, the D that fit that bill can quickly deteriorate (see: Komisarek, Commodore, Phaneuf) after they've been offered big contracts. Q2) I think another Gorges clone would do us well in that price range: good positional play > physical attributes. I'm surprised Kent Huskins hasn't attracted more attention from teams arround the league. In all seriousness, the Habs have 7 or 8 Defencemen signed to one-way NHL contracts. Can we improve on our 5th/6th D? Perhaps. But it's unlikely an NHL calibre UFA is willing to sign a two-way contract. Then you play the risk of losing players on the waiver wire sending them down and (more importantly) up. I think part of MB's job is mitigating risk of losing Molson's money. Q3) If CapGeek says so, sure. Q4) I think a contract for P.K. south of $4M would be more reasonable for his RFA contract. Anything greater than $4M surpasses the realm of reasonable contracts. I love the way P.K. plays and he has matured quite a bit in the past two years but he has more to prove before passing that subjective threshold. Q5) NO Q6) N/A Q7) YES but it's fun critizing people's job that we wish we had. _______________________________ Opinions are like kittens, I'm giving them away.
