As a net presence, you want somebody big that can hold his own. But you also want somebody very agile with the puck that can jump on a rebound or loose puck and put it in. So in my opinion, MaxPac or Cole would be better suited for this role. TheHockeyRecord.com Recalling hockey records daily and taking an in-depth look at what they mean for the game of hockey.

Weber needs room to grow. Moen is just not that type of player. We shouldn't expect this out of him. Cherry sucks, always has, always will. Jets fans were great, should teach NHL to move teams from non-market cities to real hockey havens. Anybody know what the deal is with Campoli? Disappointing performance by the Habs last night who just didn't seem ready to start the season against a more focused, energized Leafs team. My take on the Yemelin situation is that he needs to earn his spot on the roster... This is the way Martin works. With all the injuries, he'll get his chance sooner than later; the question is, will he be fine and ready when it happens? It seems he showed up to camp less than ready and after not breaking the opening lineup, will his motivation dwindle even further? I hope not because he seems like a decent prospect. It is in these situations that I think the Habs need a better moral support system... Something better than Gainey taking a walk in old Montreal with the player. Hopefully you are both right. The way training camps work these days, with competitive scrimmage just 2 days in, players need to show up in game shape. "Training camp" no longer is for training and getting in shape. It would also help in limiting the injuries sustained in camp only 1-2 days in. *cough* Gomez *cough* TheHockeyRecord.com Recalling hockey records daily and taking an in-depth look at what they mean for the game of hockey.

I think the demotions and benchings are part of playing in a high-pressure environment like Montreal. Perhaps the media and fans are more lenient in a market like Buffalo. Young P.K still has some maturing to do and makes his share of mistakes. That being said, I believe he has greater potential than Myers as an offensive defenseman. To put it bluntly, I really hate comparing two players for the sake of contract dealings. Unfortunately, the NHL is a business and in order to establish pricing, comparables have to be sought out. If I were Goat, I would not hesitate to sign P.K. to a multi-year 5-6 million a year contract. Especially after he just signed an injury-prone Markov with uncertain future to something similar. As to be expected, a whole lotta nothin' from the interviews. It is still nice to see the boys out in full form and ready for another season. A few subtleties: - Nice TaylorMade Habs cap on Ryan White... where do I get one? - Gionta could have shaved knowing he'd be greeted with a media scrum at the course. - I think Jacques Martin has been practicing his interview shtick all summer.. He's really good at saying nothing with 1000 words. FORE!!! TheHockeyRecord.com Recalling hockey records daily and taking an in-depth look at what they mean for the game of hockey.
