point by point: Yup. Yup. Yup Huberdeau is getting a lot less help from his team than Gallagher, I'm a big fan of both. Yup (and was it when he got the new contract that he fell apart?) Dougie Hamilton by a mile. (Damn you Brian Burke! give your gifts to anyone but Boston!) Yup. ____________________ Keep Hope Alive - Comment on Liveblog: Price unbeatable as Canadiens complete sweep of Rangers

What baffles me is why, if MT intends to teach character to the kids did white not spend any time benched after his brutal penalty in Ottawa? This feels like MT has it in for PK and I don't like it. - Comment on Liveblog: Another W; Jets grounded 4-3
in the press box. his cap hit is the same as kaberle and he's on a 1 year iirc. Can't see LA falling for it but hey... works for me ____________________ Keep Hope Alive - Comment on Liveblog: Another W; Jets grounded 4-3
+1 ____________________ Keep Hope Alive - Comment on Audio: Habs sign Subban to two-year deal
When I first heard subban signed 2 years at 5.75 I was stunned. When I saw it was 2mil this year (prorated so really 1.2) and 3.75 next year I got curious. Here's why this deal really is a win for both sides. For the habs, we get PK for 2 years at a tiny cap hit of 2.85/year. And then we get to negotiate while he is still a free agent. For PK, very little of his money is assigned to this year. About 40% of any salary assigned to this year is not paid because of the shortened year. So PK will recieve 4.95 mil over the two years after pro rating is factored in. That's about the same as had he signed for 3.15/year for both of the 2 years. Also the qualifying offer must be at least 110% of the last years salary. So by this very lopsided contract PK's position in Arbitration is much stronger. I think Don Meehan and Mark Bergevin have conspired to exploit the CBA very well. As they should.
