Why the hell is Carey Price the poster boy for this headline? What management decision must be made re. Carey Price besides watching him be our #1 goalie for the next 5 seasons? Why couldn't there be a picture of Desharnais or Kaberle or Weber - guys that should be moved? Carey Price is going NOWHERE. So how does he end up being relevant to the decisions management must make in the summer? Quit trying to drive him out of town!

Making HAM a powerhouse means excellent drafting. We have 6(?) picks in the first three rounds so I'm sure Hamilton will be just fine. I however disagree with the need for an enforcer. If you're talking another Brandon Prust or Chris Neil or Kyle Clifford, fine, but no team needs a meathead like Frazer McLaren or Colton Orr that plays less than 5 mins in important games and becomes a pressbox resident in the playoffs. https://twitter.com/mikelangerr

I think Price is still a top 5 goalie in the NHL. I keep repeating that Therrien's system is a nightmare for goalies if puck possession doesn't translate to goals. As a goalie, it doesn't do much good to watch your team dominate the first ten minutes of a 0-0 game and then suddenly the first shot you see is a 2 on 1 or breakaway and you have to make a big save. https://twitter.com/mikelangerr

My wishlist for off-season 2013: - Buy out Kaberle (Obvious) - Resign Ryan White (and perhaps Dumont at 2-way) - Resign Colby Armstrong - Sign Bryan Bickell - Sign Dave Clarkson *Acquire Matt Greene from LA for DD + Pateryn + late pick if necessary *If not, sign Mark Fistric and trade Desharnais for anything - Sign Matt Cullen to replace DD Forwards: Pacioretty - Plekanec - Bourque Gally - Eller - Gally Bickell - Cullen - Gionta Prust - White - Clarkson Moen, Armstrong Defense with Greene: Gorges - Subban Markov - Greene Tinordi - Diaz Bouillon Or with Fistric... Tinordi - Subban Markov - Gorges Fistric - Diaz Bouillon Price Budaj LTIR: Emelin PS I was at the game last night and stayed until the final buzzer. Thanks for the season Habs! Great show!

Yes it depends on Carey Price... And on PK Subban, Josh Gorges, Brian Gionta, Tomas Plekanec, Max Pacioretty, Andrei Markov, Michael Ryder, Brendan Gallagher, David Desharnais, Lars Eller, Raphael Diaz, Rene Bourque, Alex Galchenyuk, Francis Bouillon, Brandon Prust, Jarred Tinordi, Ryan White, Jeff Halpern, Colby Armstrong, Travis Moen, Peter Budaj, Michel Therrien, JJ Daigneault and Gerard Gallant. It's a TEAM game. GO HABS GO!

It's also because his positional play was much improved this year compared to last. He would hold his position and block the shot instead of taking himself out of the play to lay a big hit. Thats why he plays 20 mins per game this year and only 12 mins per game last year. He would save his physicality for winning battles in the corners and in front of the net (and he won quite a few of them). https://twitter.com/mikelangerr

Reading some of the discussions about Price's stats compared to Bobrovsky and the Leafs goalies' stats gave me an idea of a new goaltending stat category that should be counted: Earned Goals Against Average. In baseball, if a defensive player is charged with an error on a play and the subsequent baserunner eventually scores, the run does not count against the pitcher's Earned Run Average. So if Earned GAA were to be tracked in hockey, a goal that is allowed as a result of an "error" by the defense (e.g. someone left wide open backdoor, or deflection/screen or one-timer top shelf, etc.) will not be charged to the goalie's "earned goals against average". However, if a goalie allows a "soft" or "stoppable" goal, (if he were in good position to make the save but didn't make it) he is charged with an "earned goal against." Of course the league would have to make sure that the official scorekeepers aren't biased in favor of the home team's goalie, but I think this stat would say a lot more about a goaltender than standard GAA and Save %. https://twitter.com/mikelangerr
