So what you're saying is we should fuse those two players, kinda like they did in "the fly" and we'd get the best of both players. Their cap hit matches, so it's bound to work.

How about Eric Staal then?

Considering we got him, and a 5th round pick for Brière, it's hard to complain.

If he asked for a trade, that's reason to think he was not playing with all the intensity he can muster. That said, intensity is a waning thing for Bourque, even when with the Flames.

here it is : "I must seriously question the direction in which the Dallas Stars are headed. One step forward, two steps back? They have just committed a lot of payroll to a second line centre in Jason Spezza. The merits of plus minus have been debated at length, some for while others against. IMO, Chris made a great point last year which has stuck with me. Essentially he said anything beyond plus 10 or below minus 10 is a leader or laggard. Anybody can be the victim of circumstance. Look at bowman on Tuesday night – he stepped on the ice and picked up a minus despite not being in the play or having anything to do with the breakdown. As it relates to Spezza though, too often he finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time for this number not to carry significant weight. So, despite putting up 18 points in 20 games, he’s already minus 8. This, IMO, is an extension of something he’s battled his entire career – play away from the puck. What Spezza does have going for him though are the points. Flipping this around, DD is having a great year in terms of +/-, but the points aren’t where you might expect a first line centre’s to be. No arguing the cap hit, which I believe to be fairly priced. He’s making approximately half what Spezza will be making, so there’s value here. That said, something has to give. Either the team needs to rearrange personnel, or they need one more move to upgrade the top nine. It’s always dicey when you begin tweaking with a lineup that’s off to a tremendous start, but I’m in favor of getting Eller and Sekac more offensive zone touches, either via faceoffs or pp opportunities. Eller has 6 points in his last 7 games and is plus two. Compare that to his start with Bourque. So, now that he’s rolling, we need to find a way to get him going. The Blues get their third line critical touches, which has helped that unit provide offence. Lastly, switching gears, folks wonder why the flyers or Rangers or other teams starved for a defenceman didn’t pick up Allen….they are in salary cap jail. Every penny counts and Bergevin keeps the window of opportunity open, allowing him to make the moves he’s made. Aside from being skeptical of the organization’s ability to graduate talent (which could change in the next 1-2 years), I’m very happy with the direction the team is heading. So, regarding moves within the top nine, I trust Bergevin will do what’s best. After all, he’s moved Budaj, keeping Tokarski (B+), he’s moved Moen for Gonchar (A) and he’s dealt Bourque for Allen (A+). That’s reflective of the positive review my oldest received this morning during parent/teacher interview for JK students. #prouddad "
