Perezhogin was not doing half as well with the opportunity, the organization stood tall with him during his full season suspension from the AHL, and he never seemed to be willing to go the extra mile. It would be interesting to see his reaction come june, He might be willing to pull a Semin and come back when he realizes who can best butter his bread. The Brothers are going to be a a Habs fixture for at least the next half decade, hopefully for longer. It still would not be a bad idea to stock pile North American talent, with the Russians looking to create a league which they hope will compete with the NHL.

I see it as a win for me on both fronts, whiskey and hockey.

I agree, looking at some of the 2nd round picks we have had in the past, there is a wealth of potential; Subban, Maxwell, and Latendresse to name a few. I don't think its a bad move, especially given that the market for a goaltender was so bare, Bryzgalov, who in my opinion is a little better than Huet, had to be waived because nothing was offered.

Teamwork, thats what its all about. The scariest thing about this young group is simply that they are young, even if the team goes deep in the playoffs and comes up short for a run at the Cup, the experience will be invaluable. This team has elements which have a lot of big game experience, Price, Kovy, Koivu and some with a little less Komo, Grab n' Both Tits, Lapierre, O'Byrne and Streit who has captained the Swiss National team for a few years now. Ryder and Plecks were part of a 'Dogs team that made it to the Calder Cup but came up short and I know Dandenault and Breezer also have Cups, but neither seems interested in making the effort so I don't feel the need to include them. This experince will serve them very well in the playoffs as they have more familiarity with the win or go home aspect of it all. However, very few of them on this team have legit NHL Playoff experience, So it remains to be seen what they will be able to bring to the table. The pluses going forward at this time are simple, Chemistry and Heart. The chemistry has been growing more and more visible, as the D-pairings seem very comfortable with each other, and the top six roll more and more as units, then I have ever seen in Montreal (I've only been a Habs-junkie since 2002). The heart is evident, as we've seen a team that does not give up, they don't mail it in, and they don't like to be pushed around. The only real cautionary point is; drum roll please, Goal tending. Price and Halak are both good, but its great goal tending that wins it. I think they will be up to the task as both of them seem very hard to rattle and don't buckle when its tough. I think home-ice advantage is a likely result for us, but the fact remains that this is a unit that will not give up on each other, will fight for one another and who shows all sings of wanting to win. With a plethora of experience behind the bench, a good leadership group and a hungry team, the stage is set for a deep playoff run, personally feel that anything short of the Conference championships would disappoint me. the reason for such optimism is simple; while there have been rough patches for this team, they've been worked out as a unit, there have been no major causes for concern, even our woes in the face off circles have been slightly improved, albeit at a glacial pace. While being considered a small and soft team, they have been able to stand up to a lot of teams with a tougher rep, and have been able to dominate in that aspect of the game against teams without any muscle. The idea of team-toughness is just a smaller component of what makes this year so damn uplifting; its the first year in close 15 that were watching a hockey team, and not a collection of hockey players with supposedly seemingly goal. Now that my diatribe is over, if you don't mind I've got some gold to find at the bottom of whiskey bottle, yep I'm still celebrating #1 IN THE EAST BABY. P.S I've been meaning to comment on this for a bit, but have not been able to find an appropriate venue so Ill tag it in hear. Have you noticed how many late draft picks (anything after 5th round, though we have a good number of third rounders as well.) we have on this team, and not fringe players, but some serious components. Markov 162nd in 98, Ryder 216th in 98, Halak 271st in 2003, Streit 262nd in 2004 and Lil Sergei 200th in 2005. Not to mention some of the promising younger players such as D'Agostini and Valentenko all fit in this bill as well. Also, though we did the work, the Habs draft class of 1998 is great, but the wealth is shared, Markov and Ryder are here but Ribs and Beachemin are elsewhere. Guess Houle was not all that bad (I hate myself for saying that)

I don't think it was com firmed, I think Miller said he's heard it from everybody but the teams and league. If so, I don't think we got enough, but I don't think were done.
