Just in case anyone forgot about the class of the Canadiens organization - last Thursday my mother attended the hockey game. She is 96 and legally blind (she has some sight). As she was being escorted to her seat the attendant asked if she enjoyed hockey and she told him how as a schoolgirl in St Lambert they would line up at the TRAIN platform and wave to the team; of course she remembered all the older players but her personal favourite is Jean Beliveau. After the first period, someone from security came to get her (and the rest of the famility with her) and told her they were taking her to a better seat and someone wanted to meet her. They took her to a room somewhere and in walked Mr. Beliveau who talked with her, gave her a jersey and a puck. Then they moved everyone to better seats closer to the ice. She was so excited that she can't remember the second period (just as well) but it was a wonderful experience for her and one she won't forget.

Completely off topic but hoping someone from the Gazette or this site can help. My mother, who is 96 and legally blind is travelling by train from Vancouver to Montreal and will be attending the hockey game on Thursday night. She is a devoted fan and has been all her life. Her hero is Mr. Beliveau (isn't he everyone's). Is there any way that anyone might know of that she could meet any of the players or any possibility of her meeting Mr. Beliveau - that would complete her dream. Thank you all and sorry for using this forum for personal stuff.

Not on the West Coast they didn't - believe me I checked. It showed in the guide but the channel showed news then the Toronto game.

Thank you RDS for showing it. I cannot believe that CBC didn't cover the ceremony - guess who they showed instead!

Timo we get RDS HD in the West too - costs a little more than five bucks but well worth it.

I was born in Montreal and moved to Vancouver where I live now. My claim to fame was delivering the Gazette to Jean Beliveau and Butch Bouchard. I was last in Montreal at the forum in October 1992 and saw an exhibition game between the Habs and Pittsburg when Mario was playing - that was the last year they won the cup. Anyone want me to come back?????????
