Isn`t it grand. Bolland takes a stick in the face with his team losing 2-0 in their home building. The ref, five feet away, decides he`s gonna pretend he didn`t see it. Meanwhile, the CBC twit starts chirping about embellishment. After seeing the replay the CBC goof can`t- or is it won`t -say the ref messed up. Totally agree with what you`re saying Ed. But I`ll go one step further and say I believe it`s league sanctioned. They were talking today on the fan 590 about how lucky Bettman is to have two large cities, American, original six teams in the finals. It`s a dream in the strike shortened season they said. Funny, a couple of weeks ago these same guys were talking about how the NBA would never allow the two smallest market teams in the league to meet in the final. They questioned the integrity of the leagues`officiating. But we all know that the NHL would never stoop that low.Ha. I believe the refs are doing what they are told. They are walking a tightrope and they are not calling the most blatant stuff because they are told not to. Just look at the interference that hasn`t been called and it `s embarrasing to watch. The only thing they call is too many men on the ice and shooting the puck over the glass. Have to come clean that I have been living in sin all day. Every time I see a replay of Campbell writhing around on the ice I have felt all gooey, good inside. I have been wanting him to get his ever since he used his elbow pad on Pyatts`s face. And of course it never happened as far as the `regime`was concerned. Every sports show I`ve seen today has described the loss of this fourth liner as huge. OK. But it does leave me wondering just what word is left to describe the loss of a first liner.
