Montreal's top three hitters for the season: 1)Emelin 2)Prust 3)Eller Anyone else wonder why they're cleaning out their lockers today? I don't think it's as bad as everyone says - assuming all three are healthy next season. I would upgrade a couple of the forwards for some size, and find a stay at home D-man with some size to stabilize the back end, but I don't think it's all doom and gloom. If I could play GM for a moment, the players I would ship - some for salary, other because of their value in acquiring an asset, and others because of play, would be: Moen, Gorges, Gionta, White - these are the obvious ones. Other than White they make too much and bring little other than leadership to the room. Desharnais, Price - The less obvious ones. Both are valuable to the Canadiens, and other teams. These two land significant assets in return - I firmly believe that Price will win a vezina one day - but I just don't think it will happen in Montreal. That isn't an attack....relax. Plekanec - May go because of his contract, but i hope not. Markov, Bourque, Boulion, Armstrong - Keep em....just cause. Montreal has a surplus at Center - and the rest of the league is starved for them. Either DD or Pleks needs to go because they are more valuable to the team as trade bait. Untouchables - Subban, Eller, Gallagher, Tinordi, Galchenyuk, Pacioretty, Emelin, Prust. “Of course I'm crazy, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong.” - Robert Anton Wilson - Comment on About this season ... and next season ... and the one after that ...

Understood - If they shut him down and operate now, he'll be back by January. “Of course I'm crazy, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong.” - Robert Anton Wilson - Comment on About last night ...
This wasn't the Cup year anyways gang. This team wasn't going anywhere in the playoffs without its top 3 hitters in the lineup (Emelin, Prust - not 100%, & Eller). The majority of the top six are wounded - Eller, Gio, Patches are the obvious ones, but it's also evident that Ryder hasn't been 100% since his night off a few weeks ago. Too many holes to fill without a good bounce or two, and a blown call to pick up the slack – if it weren’t for bad luck, the Canadiens would have none. The bright side: Eller, Gallagher, Subban, Galchenyuk, Tinordi – all look like they’re going to be the face of the franchise for years to come. Chins up – The future looks bright. “Of course I'm crazy, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong.” - Robert Anton Wilson - Comment on About last night ...

You can sum it up with one word: "Emelin". “Of course I'm crazy, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong.” - Robert Anton Wilson - Comment on Liveblog: Canadiens trounced 7-3 by visiting Flyers
I agree with you about the coaching - it is better, but this is a much different team than last years. The chains have been taken off of the young players, and they have been allowed to play meaningful minutes. The sea change in philosophy has resulted in three lines that are dangerous, that have remained relatively healthy throughout the season. Before his seventeen knee operations, Andre Markov was arguably the best puck-moving defenseman in the Eastern Conference - he may have lost a step, but that argument can still be made. If it wasn't for 9837 games lost to injury last season, and a series of 'panic' moves by the Kremlin, that team too would have made the playoffs...albeit playing dull and lifeless Jacques Martin hockey. Carey Price has the ability and physical gifts to be an elite goalie - whether he ever becomes one in a Canadiens uniform is a question that is borderline blasphemous to the "true-believes", but it is a legitimate one. Price genuinely seems like a great person, a gifted athlete, and a great teammate, and I wish him nothing but success, but when he is in a funk it's really hard to watch. Carey Price has been a 'good' goalie, it's time for him to be the 'great' one we've heard he will be for the last eight years. “Of course I'm crazy, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong.” - Robert Anton Wilson
