I know poop - and THIS COMMENT is TOTAL dog-poop! Carbo plays the best 20 guys. That's obvious. You think they don't know that's what he's saying when he says - you're in the press box tonight? This is funny: he suffers a crisis of confidence he will be useless in the playoffs? I forget who you said this about. Anyone can be useless if that happens. Every game has some element of gamble. The Habs are now gambling that a lot of their youth can stand up and be tough, but you know what? SO FAR SO GOOD!! Gainey and Carbo have told the team - we believe in our players. We'll stand up for those who perform on the ice, regardless of age or experience. That's a GOOD message my friend. What you wrote above is for peewee players. I would bet Halak will get his chance. I think that Gainey knows there is no sure thing and Halak may turn out to be just as good or better than Price. If I had to bet, I'd be on Price... but not by much. I think Halak may be that good. And why not play them both so they get time to also watch and learn and feel less pressure. Goalies, Get Yer Goalies Here!!! I have to say that I'M surprised that people are surprised at the Huet deal. Obviously people didn't pay attention when about two weeks ago on this forum I laid out the simple math. Three potentially great goalies and only two starting positions....all 3 were unhappy and we would have lost one. Huet, We'll Miss Ya, But... Someone HAD to go to make room. We would have either lost Halak (and not got enough for him because he hasn't had a lot of NHL experience) or Huet. The obvious answer: Huet. Three reasons to keep Halak and not Huet: 1. Better career potential 2. Lower cap hit 3. Better, more stable, tandem with neither goalie having seniority. It was a no-brainer. I'm glad Bob did the smart thing. Too bad the market wasn't better but he had no choice. Price is Right. Price will do better now, he's had some seasoning and there's no-one he's supposed to look up to while at the same time taking their job away... and without Halak down in Mtl pissed off at him too. Halak It. You gotta like Halak getting his shot. After last year's start it's very well deserved... as Gainey said he's probably the best AHL goalie so should be up here anyway. Gainey is Strategic. If you're not convinced by now, this was an obvious move, this will do it. What could be better than to stellar young goalies both on entry level contracts for freeing up cap space to land a top notch sniper this summer. The Pens have Crosby and Malkin for cheap. We get Price and Halak. Not bad, not bad at all.... way to go Bob for seeing the whole board. ________________________________________________________________ Habs Fans!
